Yeah. that happens to me too. I can't smile to strangers unless they smiled to me too. If they're not, I don't want to smile and see people just turning their head on me LOL. If I meet someone eyes, I tend to stare, I know it would make people uneasy, but I always wonder if one day, I could read someone's mind by looking at someone's eye since eyes should be the window through the heart. Smile to stranger is something else. If I am in a happy mood, or when I am so excited in things, I would tend to smile to everyone. Even to the waitress in the cafe LOL. But when I am not on a good condition, I wouldn't smile at all.

LOL. I know that, but every time I look in someone's eyes, all that I know that I should be facing the reality that it was only the dream never comes true and that those people becomes scared because I was staring at them LOL. That's not a good idea, I suppose LOL.

i think it depends who the stranger is to say whether you should smile or not. i think to smile is nice but some people can misinterpret the reasons which is sad to say. its a shame we cant smile just to say hello and avoid any bad feelings . women i think have to be more cautious which again is a shame as to see a friendly smile is nice to brighten any ones day.

raising your head, smile to strangers? It must be misinterpreted ,I think. I think the strangers here means not a completely stranger, maybe he/she is your colleague or your classmate your are not familiar with him/her.I think it is foolish to smile to a completely stranger

I wouldn't dare smile to strangers, well, mabye if they were little kids, then, Yes! I would have, but if they were grown-ups or even teenagers I would have done nothing and walked my own way, but would be on high-alert and try to stay away from that particular stranger if he looked at me first! Although this has never happened to me before, even in a crowdy street! And I'd be greatfull if it never did! :)

For about a year now I've tried to make it a habit of smiling to those around me. It's met differently from different people, but I at least try to do it. It's funny though, because the ones I get the biggest kick out of are those who come at you looking grumpy and you give them a smile. They sit there for a moment trying to register just what happened, and slowly you see the sides of their mouth start to curl up. So, go on -give a smile. Anora
