i remember 15 years ago when i had my first 14.4k connection! i was one of the first on my town...internet was a strange thing and google wasn't yet on our desktops, web pages were really light and without all todays plugins...then i had a 56k for some years like 5 or 6 and then the first 640 dsl like 6 years ago and now and in the last 3 years i've a 7mbit...my question is...there's still someone that use a 56k connection?i think is really hard to browse on the net with a 56k,websites are always more heavy and full of videos, pics and multimedia... do you know someone that still have this connection?

well i don't have to go very far as i was using one some 3 months ago and now i have a dsl 1mb connection and i can sense the difference.most of my friends still use it. but in most countries the dial-up is still the only way of accessing internet or the most accessible way. like our country dsl and satellite internet are fairly a new concept and people are now becoming aware of them and their is now some competition among the providers as well and that is helping the customers as the rates are being lowered. it will be a terrible thing for me to use the dial-up again and yes the websites are quite heavy these days.

I still have a 56K connection. Out where I live (in the middle of nowhere) there is no other choice, unless we go sattelite. Sattelite's way too expensive for the budget for right now, and while our phone company does offer dsl, it it not available in my area because the phone lines are too old and need replaced. So...if I want to be on the net this is my only way lol. I've had computers since around 1985, and got on the internet within a year or so after it was available. Yes, 56kk bogs things down a lot, but when there is no other choice you just get used to it :-) Geez, it takes around 5 to 10 minutes to load up a short youtube lol! The phone company says they'll be replacing lines here within a couple of years, so I'm hanging on hope!
