I was watching the American Presidential debate the other night. During the debate Mccain was talking about something and he turns and points towards Obama and said that one did. My first thought was wow did this guy really say that? Was he being racist? I really didn't think much more about it until Hubby mentions it the next day. he thought it sounded a little off. To me it sounded like it would if he had called him boy. Maybe he meant nothing by it or did he? How did you take it? Racial slur or just an innocent comment?

Hi whywiki, I don't think that it was a racial, MCcain is too smart for that and it would no doubt cost him the election. I feel certain that he would never intentionally say anything that could only hurt his image, among the voters. Blessings

I don't think he said it intentionally really, I think it may have been a slip. He seems like one of those good old boys that was raised in a different time and just let it wlip.

I didn't think it had anything to do with race.. but I wouldn't talk that way.. but of course I'm not in cut throat politics where that's pretty much the norm! [Shudder!]

Cut throat politics indeed. It is going to be an exciting race.

You are not alone in questioning the intent behind the remark made by McCain, whywiki. It has been mentioned on both the national news and on talk radio. What exactly did McCain mean when he referred to Obama as "That one?" Personally, I think that he is doing so poorly in the polls that he has been reduced to name-calling and making outrageous false statements about Obama to try and shore up his sagging numbers.

It seemed to me that it could have been a slip but there is something sinister about the guy.
