How did you choose your children's names? We choose our children's first names just because we liked those names, they all have a middle name connected with either side of our families, we have two boys nad two girls so one girl and one boy have family names from my side of the family and one girl and one boy have family names from husband's side of the family. We choose eldest daughter other middle name and as she is 9 years older than the other three she chose another middle name for the other three children to help her feel part of the choosing.

My fiance is a US Marine and when I found out I was pregnant with my first daughter he decided to clean out the closet. He was getting rid of his old camoflauge and out of the blue asked what I thought of the shortened version of camoflauge. I liked it because it was different so we went with it. I got a tattoo the day before we found out that I was pregnant with her so her middle name was named after my tattoo, it's also her birth flower. Our second daughters name we found in a book and liked the way it sounded with her sisters name. Both starting with the K sound, both 4 letters, and 2 syllables. Her middle name is also her birth flower.

That was a lovely idea to let your 9 year old daughter help in choosing a name for her siblings. I would never have thought of that in a million years. I just liked the name which I gave to my first child but her second name is my mum's name. I also liked the name which I gave to my second child and his second name is my husband's name. I used the scottish version of my husband's name when my third child was born and his second name is my dad's name.

We did not manage to get a consensus on choosing our son's name. As a consequence our son has two names. I wanted to name my son after my late grandpa and she wanted another name. Thank God both names sound well in the ear so we opted of having both names as a first name.

Hi ya Anne18 As the father of my children (lets call him for arguements sake) is Arabic we went with Arabic names but I wanted the first one to have a name that English speaking people would also be able to say and then the next child got named after a muslim prophet but I didn't want to call him Mohammed because I thought he would have problems at school and the third we took ages to name right up until the day before we had to register him and I think my (hopefully soon to be) ex husband plucked a name virtually out of the air and we went with it!
