What do you do and why?

What do you do for a living? What kind of job do you have? Do you like your job, why or why not? If you're like me and don't have a job, why not? I don't work because I couldn't earn enough at a job to afford child care for my children. While that's the main reason, there are many perks to being a stay at home mom. My home is relatively clean, the laundry and dishes are always done. The kids don't have to go to a sitter's which has a ton of benefits, and I get plenty of free time. There are downsides to being a stay at home mom as well. I don't get to interact with other adults face to face. I don't get to earn a paycheck and help financially support my family. If I could choose, I would work a part time job, a few hours a day, and be home the rest of the day.

You should look into some of the programs like stretch N Grow, Tumble Bus and Compuchild, they all her people who only want to work during school hours and only during the school year. There is also another program called Soccertots that is the same way. Right now I am working for compuchild. Other than not getting the number of kids she promised me, I like my job. I go into daycares and teach 3-4yr olds computer class. This is only though the and of May 09. I have off of work every Friday + any day my son is out of school. Right now I have 2 morning classes & 2 afternoon classes. Course are about 35 minutes each. Thursday is my "long" day lol. That center is the only one I have 2 classes at right now. I start at 8:30 and get done around 10. Since she isn't giving me the hours I need, I am considering working for SoccerTots. They teach soccer to kids at some of the daycares but also at gyms.

Actually, I like the classes better than dealing with my son LOL The kids are super well behaved and they don't talk back - especially at the refined daycares.

So these jobs are working with kids? Sounds great, except I don't like kids Well, I don't like kids that aren't my own that is. I know it sounds awful, but I'm just not very good at handling brats, and there's always at least 1 in every bunch. When I get a job it will be something that doesn't have to do with kids. I've dedicated the last 5 years of my life to raising my kids without working, and still have about 4 or 5 years until my youngest is off to school. I think after that, a job that doesn't deal with kids will be a breath of fresh air, lol.

I'm at stay at home mom too. I like my job for the most part. I don't work because like you, till i would pay for daycare and meals for daycare and gas to get back and forth, I wouldn't be bringing home any money anyways. I worked in daycare for years before i decided to stay home and i'm actually glad I don't have to put my kids in daycare. The screening process for employees is really weak and I've seen some questionable stuff in my time working in daycare. I wouldn't want to put my kids in daycare. Once they are all in school I'm sure I'll get a job. I'm doing something from home now that I'm not sure if I told you about yet or not. I'll talk to you on yahoo or yoville about it.

I would never actually put my child in a day care center, but more like a person who babysits from home. But thus far nobody has ever babysat my children that weren't family.

sometimes that is even scarier because if someone is alone with your child there is no witness if they are doing something wrong. i guess i'm just a little untrusting when it comes to my kids.

Other than the money that I earn online, I don't have a paying job. Sometimes I wish that I did. But I don't!

I am a SAHM, and I love it. I have been home with my son since he was born 2 years ago. I could work, and make some money even after paying for child care- not much but some- but I choose to stay home because I love spending my time with my son. I also like that I can be relaxed and not have to rush around to keep a schedule all the time. I earn a little bit of money online, and take my son to playgroups, so I do get some interaction, but most of the time I prefer just to be with him. Next year I will probably go to work part time or try to find something a little more lucrative to do from home. But for now, my full time job is Mom, and I love it.

Currently, I'm working for a customer service oriented company and I've been with the industry for 4 years. Well, I'm happy with the job mostly because of the ease of the work. The only drawback is that it's really stressful especially when you can take a breath or 2 before taking in the next call. Being that long in the industry already makes me think what I wanted to do and what job I would really love to have. I've always been thinking about the saying "if you love your job, you feel as if you're not working". For now, I need it due to our financial situation. I'll be more vigilant in landing the most suitable job for me. Take care.

When I worked I used to do a couple of things. One was medical insurance billing, specializing in Medicare and Medicaid. I also worked for a large insurance corporation and sold or helped retirees with their supplemental policies or life insurance. I miss working, but am no longer able to due to health issues. But, it does give me plenty of time to do things at home, sleep late and head to the pool when I am up to it.

I am working as a babysitter which is 3days a week. I get paid really good and per hour. I love my job because the kids loves me and the parents trust and loves me too. I met some of their relatives and I was overwhelmed how they treat me and how much they adore me. I never thought that a stranger like me in their house for 9 hours a day have a full access at their home and being trusted. I feel like not looking for different job and stick with them. I love kids, maybe that was why I love my job to interact with the kids. Their home is my second home here in the states and I am so proud working with this family

I work in an office and the majority of my job involves some sort of computer work...mostly with databases and spreadsheets. I like what I do but it can be boring at times. I'm not too thrilled with the company that owns the company I work for, they are cutthroat and uethical, but as long as someone signs my paycheck, I'll keep my feelings about them to myself.
