have you ever been overseas, how often do you go on holidays?

Oh my gosh, I am in a similar situation as you and I am so excited! In December I am going away for a month and I will stay with my boyfriend's family for the holidays (St. Lucia day which is Swedish, Christmas, and new years!) in Stockholm Sweden! My boyfriend and I will share the guest house and it will be so much fun, he lives on an island so I will go from seeing no boats in my daily life to being on them every day while I am there. It will be very exciting! Also, he booked us a flight to Barcelona, Spain, for three nights so I am excited to go there too, since I speak Spanish I am very eager to test it out in a native Spanish speaking country, it will be very interesting to experience Spanish culture! Swedish culture will also be different, even though these countries are western they are still very different with customs and things like that... Americans have a different mentality than Europeans it seems. Almost 57 days until I am on that airplane, I can't wait to see my boyfriend again, I miss him so much! To address the issue of knowing your own country before going to others, it could be nice to travel your own country first, because when you travel to other countries you may not be so interested to travel within your own since you desire more of a cultural shock like you get over other borders, it's very exciting to experience something different so you become sort of addicted to that kind of travel. I have seen a lot of the US and now I am more so disinterested in seeing the states that I have not been to, I would rather go to other countries.
