I called my mechanic today and someone in the office told me that the reason Pumpkin, my wheelchair, imploded was that he was plugged in improperly and now they're not sure the insurance will buy me another control box. I didn't know it was possible to plug in a wheelchair improperly. This has never happened in my over 15 years of owning wheelchairs and besides which it's not like I plugged it in myself. I hope not but I suspect I will spend a lot of time over the next month or so dealing with Medicaid and getting them to do what they should. They said I should call back on Monday and talk to the mechanic directly and then in about two weeks if everything goes according to plan (which it never does in my case) a new control box should be ordered. Wish me luck.

That is horrible. Good luck to you. Do you have house or renters insurance? My sons wheelchair is covered for accidents. You may want to check into it. I would consider that an accident. It may be a way to get it fixed without having to wait months. It is hard to go without a wheelchair when you really need one, and they get in no hurry.
