I have 10 digital cameras, 8 of which are point and shoots. Of all of my point and shoots, my favorite is the Sony Cybershot T70. It's around $280 which a bit more than the price range you're looking for, but you might be able to find it somewhere for under $250. Or you may want to look at different Sony Cybershot models. The quality of my T70 is absolutely amazing! The depth of field is the best I've seen on a point and shoot camera. One of my favorite things about my Sony Cybershot camera (and I've seen the same features on different Sony Cybershot models as well) are the fun on camera filter effects you can add to your photos. You can add a fisheye effect to make it look like your photo was taken with a fisheye lens, or a radial blur effect, or a star effect that makes any light take a star shape! It is definitely a fun camera!

We have a Canon powershot sx100 ls. I think my hubby spent about $150-200 at Best Buy for it. It takes GREAT photos, clear, and sharp. We liked it so much, my MIL went and bought herself one, too.
It's a difficult decision,so I wish you luck!

We have a canon digital camera and it takes really good pictures. If you are looking for a digital camera just to bring and take pictures for occasions or trips I would suggest canon because they're reasonable price and durable. And it last longer. I really do not have any idea about olympus or nikon because we always have Canon
