My son is out of school for a week

My son is out of school for a week. Thursday and Friday because it is fall break. Monday is Columbus Day and then Tuesday is teacher planning day. We took him to the fair yesterday and I am hoping to do more things with him while he is out of school. What do you do when your kids are out of school? Do you go on vacation or do things around your town? Or do you just stay at home with them?

My son has school on Columbus day. He is out early on Thursday for parent teacher conferences and off Friday of teachers institute. He has a doctors appointment on Friday and then we are heading up to St. Louis to go to the zoo with family.
