There is a big difference between the world's largest and the world's smallest house cats.
*
The largest weighs 38 pounds and is not overweight. This furball's name is not listed or at least I can't find it.
*
The smallest looks like a kitten. Mr. Peebles is just 3 pounds and can fit comfortably in a tea cup. He's got a genetic defect that won't let him grow anymore.

My cat is growing bigger, but he still looks small I guess because he is so active all the time, I have seen a lot of big cats online and wonder how they get so big. I love my cat though he may be skinny, but he is a big eater and is always getting into our food when we eat, oh and he loves mountain dew for some strange reason.

My late sister had a cat who had a thing for honeydew melon! But Mountain Dew is very...unusual!

My uncle used to have a housecat who was two years old and was the size of a 3 0r 4 month old kitten. I think he must have had a defect also. My cat weighs about 15 pounds and is kind of big. No one would ever accuse him of being a mutation.

Hi Crafty,
I checked a few sites and found that the largest domestic cat is known as the Ragdoll. Never heard of this breed before, but they named it ragdoll because it goes limp when you pick it up, lol. The articles also stated that they average 30 to 35 lbs.
The smallest recorded domestic cat is called the Singapura, ranging 3 to 6 lbs.
This cat was brought to the U.S. in 1970.
I have a Burmese and he is very small boned and light as a feather. He makes up for that in volume. When he talks(whines), he sounds like granny from the t.v. show The Beverly Hillbillies.

I never heard of the Singapura breed of house cat. I have heard of rag dolls.

The rag doll breed is not recommended for homes with young children. That is because they lack any self defense against an obnoxious child, or even a curious one that is accidentally too rough.

I've heard of Mr. Peebles, he lives in a vet clinic I believe.
I've had/known a couple of cats that never got bigger then 6 month old kittens.
Jellibaby was 11 yrs old, dying of kidney failure and someone at the vet asked how old my kitten was....
If you really know the difference between a kitten and an adult you could tell the difference, but she was petite and cute.

Ah yes, don't you dare read a newspaper when a hairball is jonesing for pets! Then, when the parents are sleeping, the cats will use them for trampolines!

Yeah, Star is the same way. They point at her and as how old she is, we tell them her age - it'll be 8 any moment BTY. But ALL the big cats, except Nino who she loves, will walk around her.
She's one of our 3 semi-ferals.
She's kind of the most feral of the lot, but the most visible too. She hangs out in the kitche because there might be food forthcoming. Gizmo is invisible most of the time, but when he wants pets - dish them out! He will come in an mug me for pets.
