Have you had a CHANGE in your star rating?

Am just interested to learn if many people have had a change in their star rating. I think that when I first came on myLot, I said a few controversial, unpopular things, hence giving me my present star rating of 7. Also, to begin with, I hadn't read the posting guidelines, so had made a few mistakes there. If you have found your star rating going up, what do you think helped you do this? Looking forward to some interesting responses! :~) :~) :~)

Yea, my little star has gone down. No big deal. I come here for fun, and to give my HONEST opinion - not to win some silly popularity contest with silly little stars. (Does anyone else think these stupid stars make it seem like pre-school all over again?) Oh goodie, I said the right thing - give me a gold star! Geeze, everyone needs to get a grip on the whole rating thing and grow up and beyond it. Sorry, just my HONEST two cents worth there.

When I got my first star on My Lot after reaching 100 posts it was 7. Then after a few days it changed to 8 then 9 and stayed there for a while. Next it got to 10 and stayed there for a while then it went down to 9. I am pleased to say that it went back to 10.
I think that you can make many friends on My Lot from around the world. Some of them will respond to your discussions then give you a + sign. I have noticed some My Lot members with 1 or 2 and they say unpopular things so I imagine some My Lot members have given them a - sign. It is a great idea to look at the My Lot guidelines my friend because they are not always obvious. Good luck with your star rating and I hope you are really enjoying My Lot.

There is a good mix of topics on here to read and get involved with. Sometimes there are some really quite amusing things that people put on here. The other night I was looking at "products that I use". Amongst all the branded goods, there were such things as toilet paper and toilet! Really, it did make me laugh though!!! What seems to make this site though is the huge variety of people and topics on here. Guess you will soon be on your 5000th post. Do myLot do something special then? Happy myLotting!!!

No not for awhile its been pretty steady and its been at 10 for the past couple of weeks or so. I remember for awhile it use to change back to 9 a lot when I didnt post on for awhile it would go back to 9 stars but when I did post again it changed to 10 stars.

Thanks for your reply. For the first time my star rating has gone up to eight! Some people have confirmed as I guessed that making controversial comment will attract negative ratings. My feelings is that as this isn't exactly a great earner for me - on occasion - I think I will still have a good 'vent' and f*** the consequences. Hope the implication of profane language hasn't upset anyone too much! Guess I will soon see!!! ;~) :~)

I have ever feel that. my star rating is change into 10. I'm happy with it. After that I'm starting to increase my star rating everyday. But two days ago I found that my star rating is went down to 97/100 from 98/100. I little sad with it. Now I get back again into 98/100. It make me stress to increase my reputation and make the best in here.
Finally, I realize that increasing star rating isn't my first purpose join in here. Now, I can enjoy again make a post in here and don't very care again with it.

As I understand it, the star ratings go from 1 to 10, the higher the number, the better. MyLot don't say specifically how they calculate payments, explaining that they use a complex formula to work out everyone's earnings. So, I would imagine that the star rating does make a difference, but how much of a difference, I don't know. BTW it would be interesting to know what country you're from. At the moment it says "unspecified" on your profile. Enjoy the rest of the weekend, dude!

I've had a slight change in my rating lately. I've gone from a 98/100 to a 97/100.
I think some people put too much emphasis in the rating. And I know some of the others want to do away with it. I don't care either way. The most important thing we should all remember is that we should be courteous and civil with one another, even when people disagree with each other.
You're doing better than I am. My first star was a 6. 
I worked my way up to where I am now. One of the ways I did this is because I usually avoid controversial topics...though not always.

Cheers for the comment. Haven't yet discovered where to find out about these percentage ratings, as you say you've gone "...from a 98/100 to a 97/100...". Like yourself, I usually try to be courteous and civil, though I wouldn't say I could guarantee that. It's just sometimes, something just so hits "the button", one can not but say something! :*)

If you don't want your ratings to drop:
Don't respond to a discussion if you disagree with their opinion
and Don't start a discussion where someone may disagree with your opinion.
Stick to things that are not opinionated. Write about nice things. Write about flowers, balloons, crafts, butterflies, and caterpillars.

Lee_Rites, thanks for that! It's good to get a high rating. On the other hand, I'm not going to let that button my lips, if I feel strongly about something. It would be extremely boring, if everyone just prioritised getting a good rating! One of the responses later on in this thread, says as much. :~)
