I absolutely HATE politics

I am so fed up with hearing about the American election! Quite frankly, politics of all descriptions irritates me. Yes, I know I'm probably irrational, biased and (heaven forbid) political in my own attitudes But as far as I'm concerned, the vast majority of politicians will promise whatever it takes to get into office and then the promises are forgotten and they make excuses for why. They're all tarred with the same brush. One sometimes wonders whether they truly have our welfare at heart or whether it is nothing more than a power play to say 'Hey, look how popular I am!' Anyways, that's my rant for the day LOL Anyone agree with me that we should declare next week 'INTERNATIONAL NO POLITICS WEEK!'

I agree with you totally. I hate politics and politicians. Partisan politics are going to be the downfall of our country. There is so much finger-pointing and :he said-she said" bullsh*t involved that noone ever really deals with the real issues, so not too much is ever accomplished.

Yes, it should be the issues that dictate who is made leader... not their protestations of 'I'm better than so-and-so because he dodged the draft or his daughter is a junkie' or whatever. Okay, so they didn't want to join the army or their kid went off the rails (which isn't necessarily a parents fault in any case). For goodness sakes, they are HUMAN! They're entitled to make mistakes... Let he who is without sin cast the first stone! Since none of them are sinless then no-one should be casting stones. Rather, they should be concentrating on the issues because it's the issues and what they plan to do about them that REALLY matters.

Ha! Australian politics is just as bad (if not worse... LOL). I just think that official politics sux in general. The American election process seems to take so long though. Here in Aus an election is declared and over within about 8 weeks

Hi jewel, I also don't like to join about this topic..I watched news on TV but don't like to comment and hope for whatever they are talking! You are correct as if no one is really committed to fulfill their promises when they are in the position already! I know and we know how hard it is to govern the COuntry but at least, they will not forget what is the main problem that they need to focus once they are already in the position!

Yes, I agree that it would be extremely difficult to lead a nation. But I think a lot more thought should go into the promises they make to be certain that those promises are realistic.

I'm having a chuckle here because I know exactly what you mean. Don't worry, I'm not so naive that I think I'm not political myself. Basically, politics is just about opinions and of course we all have opinions... and different opinions at that so it often results in friction. I guess I was really being a bit tongue in cheek
