I was sitting here eating my soup when i started thinking hw this soup saves us money. We can eat off of it for 2 or three days and it is delicious! And nutricious. Gas prices here are finally coming down and giving us some relief but we still work to save money whenever and wherever.

Soup works for us! We love soup and had it last night and again for lunch today. We always enjoy economizing on food by buying what is on sale and planning our menus around the bargains instead of the other way around. Also, being retired we economize on clothes by wearing our favorite comfortable cotton twill shorts and T-tops over and over. Also, when we eat out instead of ordering separately we often discuss what we want to eat and then share items. For example, instead of getting two sandwiches at Subway, we choose a sandwich we both like and split the $5 footlong. We get the meal and share the drink and chips as well. That doesn't seem like much, but over time those savings really add up.

We are trying to save money on food and on petrol too. We are tying to give lifts to each other and use only one car when it is possible.

We have quit buying anything we can do without. We have also quit eating out except on Therapy days for my son. It is too long for him to go without something and it is his treat for doing good.

With all of the credit crunch that we all face, I'm aware of saving my money more than ever. I am not commuting or using my car if it's not needed badly (even the oil prices are now really low.) I'm reading wattage info on all of my appliances and I am trying to compare on which of them is the most and least consuming device. I am also thinking putting up an emergency fund but I am not sure if I can put it to bank since they might close nowadays. I also cut out my credit card account because it eats up too much money. And the most basic principle that I am putting into my mind right now is to not spend if you don't need to.

We try to use less electric. I don't drive out unless I have to. I am always looking to cut costs on my food bill. With 5 people in the house, 3 teenage boys, my fiance and me the grocery budget is one of our main expenses a month. I try to hit sales and stock up as well as create as many dishes as I can from scratch. It does help quite a bit. I am working on a small inside garden and I hope it works out to cut back on food expenses. We don't go out to eat and shopping has been curbed to necessities not wants!
