There Is Such A Thing As A FREE Lunch!

There is a saying here in the UK 'There is no such thing as a free lunch' well on Friday I got not just one but two free luches LOL. Someone from my sons school phoned to ask if my son had any allergies as they were doing a tasting session for school luches and I said no and was invited to the taste session at 12.15pm, I arrived to discover it was 2pm. I wasn't happy as I had told my son I would see him at lunchtime so to apologise they gave me a cooked school dinner and allowed me to sit with my son who was haing his packed luch LOL. Interesting experience. I then had to return at the correct time to the taster session which included beef cobbler, chicken, pizza, cheese whirls. I was that stuffed I took the dog for a long walk after. So when was the last time you dined for free, no strings attached, lets prove this saying wrong. Ellie :D

hey chickidee well i'm doing well cos i got a free lunch the other day but to be fair we tend to take it in turns so it's not that unusual. Me and 2 of my friends usually go out weekly and each week one of us pays or we all chip in depends who has what money on them where we go etc. I on;y had my card and so did my friend so she paid so i had a 3 course meal (well i had tea for my sweet - don't do sweets)plus drinks and didn't pay a penny but then the next time we went out was the cinema i paid for the snacks and then the pizza later on in the night so it all works out. Its a good thing because it means we can al always come out some weeks i may have no money other weeks they might not but we never feel guilty because it evens itself out in the end.
I bet he loved you having lunch with him lol the taster session sounds very yummy i'm a little jelous hope you saved me some or at least ziggy lol

Hi Mands, Yes it all evens out in the end, I do that a lot with my friends too. Oh my son loved having mummy in the school hall eating dinner with him and I felt I had to be a good girl and eat it all up LOL. The taster session later though was incredible and I thorughly enjoyed. Haven't ate so well in ages LOL. The chocolate cake they made was made with corguettes in not that you would think it and the chicken was covered in crushed cornflakes rather than batter. All tasted good though. Ooops sorry was I supposed to save you some.........Soooooorrry, all gone. Huggles. Ellie :D

I am sure this one has string attached but I like it so here is my experience.
I have two starbucks cards (gift cards that one can load and reload with money) and because of this I was given two gift cards for the perfect oatmeal, I have one so far and I did not have to buy anything, I need to get the other one before october is over.
other than that my free lunches have been at friend's home.

Hi ellie,
wow..that's cool and it's always wonderful to have free food and drinks! LOL!
last year, when I used to work, we have our HRM students who always cook something as part of their training and we were always invited to eat those food, it's really amazing and it was a regular routine for them..LOL! like, once every month, we will just go there and after the professor will rate or grade it, we can eat as much as we can! LOL!
This time, hubby and i wasn't treated yet for free food, we always treat friends and in-laws! LOL!

ellie333 I was trying to think when was the last time I got a free lunch, and it was about four years ago. I was still wor king at the library and had just got paid. I has wo rked some overtime so didnt get off unti two,so stopped at my favorite restaurant on my way home from work. I was in the mood for a cheeseburger and fries and coleslaw.so I was busy eating away on this humongous cheeseburger when a fellow woman customer said something to my waitress. My waitress came over to me and said your lunch is all paid for so I had a dish of ice cream along with it, and it didnt cost me a cent. seems the lady who paid for my lunch was paying it foward, and she asked me to do the same for some person I came across who looked like heor she need help.So I did just that.A street person came into the library the next day and I slipped a ten dollar bill into her pocket and told her to go buy some food.Later htat tweek I saw her and she told me her daughter had helped her into an apartment and paid for rent for several months. she tried to give me back ten dollaras and I asked her to pay it forward.later she told me she gave the ten dollars to a neighgor who was having financial trouble paying for a medicine she needed and she just lacked ten dollars so my ex street friend helped her. so now i hope the neighbor keepsthis going on paying it forward. i love the whole idea you help someone without expecting to be repaid, and you keep the gift going forward.

Wow Hatley, What a lovely lady and look how many people this one kind gesture of hers helped. What a fantastic idea, I think you should post a discussion about paying it forward and get the myLot crowd doing this, wow we could make such a difference to many peoples lives with the knock on effect. Brilliant idea, absolutely brilliant. Thank you so much for sharing. Huggles. Ellie :D

Usually it happens when I pick up my son from my mother after work. She makes her best to stuff me as a turkey for christmas even if she knows that my wife has prepared something for lunch or dinner. She is always like that with anybody who enters her house. © ronaldinu 2008

That was nice, and I'd say you were one of the few lucky ones that got something free. That was a nice lunch too. And getting to spend some extra time with your son was a plus for you. That was really nice. Maybe they will do it again and invite you.

Hi Moondancer, I don't know how but I overlooked responding to this comment, many apologies. It was lovely spending the afternoon dining with my son at his school. The food was in fact very good and I am letting him have them until half term now to try out but he says he wants to go back to packed lunch after. Huggles. Ellie :D

[b]Good morning ellie
How are you and your son doing. I bet he was happy that you were able to have lunch with him. And as for a free lunch, It's been a very long time. unless you count visiting your neighbor and they ask you to join them. We had the best soft tacos. Everything that you ate sound so good.

That's funny. I have heard that expression before as well. I have free lunches every once in a while. Was the food good? I guess it must have been since you were stuffed after. Well, it just goes to show; that everything can be proven as not always so. You did that's for sure. Funny post.

Hola Ellie,
Just wondering if you pay taxes in UK? Spent the day at the beach but stopping at the local market for Huevoes rancheros with a side of rice and beans and a pound of fressh corn tortias for a $1.50 USA Then of to the beach where I had 4 huge burritos for $1.oo USA. Not free but its now 10pm and im still stuffed for a total of $2.50. 2 hours of your life for a school lunch at least you were able to spend it with your son...priceless! No matter how much money we have we can never buy more time! I am not sure if I was able to sign to your face book page I did attempt it though. Let me if I did or not I havnt saw a confirmation from them. :) Take care!

Hi David, I said in my full moon reply that I have deactivated account on Facebook for personal reasons so that is perhaps why you have had no response. Sounds like you ate well for $2.50. Yes we pay taxes in the UK. Free lunch was great though and yes all that time at school with my son, priceless. Huggles. Ellie :D

When i am strapped for cash and can't afford to go food shopping i go up to my grandma's house for a cooked dinner - i suppose that's free!! hehe other than that i can't remember the last time i got a free lunch! xxx

Oh lucky you, getting to have a school dinner! Hmmmm the last time that I dined for free with no strings attached would be when my son treated us all to a takeaway. Now what is it about free food that makes it taste so delicious!

'There is no such a thing as a free lunch'.This saying is often used in Chinese. But one thing I knew proved it was wrong. One of my workmates said that her son was very great. He was a middle school student yet was often invited to lunch or supper by his classmates.Though my workmates felt that her son was proud. But I don't think that was so very good. There must be some reason unknown. Her son was difficult to bring up.Because when he was a pupil, her mother was called to school again and again because of her son's bad behavior.Others and me guessed that there must be something secret.
