Have one room or heater be your main one, especially if it is a 220. Keep the others off and let the one run more often. I have found one alone heats and cuts down on costs. Also if you invest in an insert this year and spread it out over several years, it saves. But you have to have your own home for that and be able to put up front costs.

Make sure your windows and doors are well insulated. When you cook or bake in the oven, leave it open after you turn it off. Don't leave doors open and keep rooms that you don't use much closed. Cuddle up with a loved one if you get too cold.

I live in FL and it really doesn't get that cold here. I am the type of person that will not even turn on the heat in the winter. I don't know where you live, but you can use heaters (they have safe ones) and not use the heat so much.

that's what I try to do - keep the heat low and wear lots of layers to help keep warmer!
