Do you truly take Sundays as a day of rest?

Do you really take Sundays off and just relax. How many Sundays do you get to relax each month. Do you feel that it is a sin when you dont rest on the sabbath and what are your thoughts on this?

It is good to get enough rest because when we are too run down we get sick. I know that I do. In this fast paced life we are lucky to get the rest that we truly need.Good for you and enjoy those wonderful Sundays.

I try to relax a bit here and there but every day I have things to do. As you may know the sabbath refers to Saturday and not Sunday. Jesus did many activities even on the Sabbath. And as far as I know, I have not seen any commands in the New Testament that command abstaining from work on any day. So as far as I'm concerned, it it up to us on how we use each day, though we should not neglect spiritual pursuits on any day.

I am fortunate enough to have the luxury of having Sundays as a day of rest but whenever I used to do shiftwork I would always volunteer to work a Sunday because the pay was so much better and I would prefer to have a day off in the week, I am not religious and to me Sunday is like any other day of the week to be honest. I like to spend my Sundays at the gym and sitting on the computer or if it's nice to do some gardening just to get some fresh air!

Thats really great that you can take sundays off because I think we all need that break, if we can. Gives you more energy to kick off the week and I dont think people get sick as much when they rest.My problem is , if I look arround and see something to do, Ill get up and do it!

Most sundays I do take time out to relax. I don't do any big chores or housework. I even tend to let the kids play or watch tv all day. Meals or either something quick, left overs or on the grill.

That sounds like the right way to do it. I cant see how anyone can start out fresh for the week if they are still tired. Its so nice to sleep a little later and have some free time. I just love it. I slept untill 8 am this morning and it was so nice and when I woke up the coffee was made! Thanks to hubby!

Years back, I thought I would have burned in hell if I even took out an iron on Sunday but now I think a lot different. There are things that need to be done around the house and Sunday is the only day that my husband has off work. Sometimes her needs a bit of help so I will help him regardless of what day of the week it is. If Sunday is a fine day, then I will mow my grass if it needs cutting. Doing a few jobs around the place doesn't mean that I am not being holy...I am not being bad either.

I agree with you because life is so busy. We cannot always just have the day off. I agree with you, it dosent mean that we are bad. Its nice to be able to when you are tired but we learn to appreciate those days when we get them.

It's not a sin for not taking a rest during sabbath, but if you forgotten God it's a sin. In the commandments that says" Remember to keep holy the Lord's day' does'nt mean that during sabbath you should always go to the church and worship God. You just need to keep Sunday or any day holy by saying a little prayer and thanking God for everything that you recieved as blessing. Thank Him every time you woke up that he gave you another day to live, or everytime someone from myLot respond to your discussion, such as I. Heheheh! Just believe that Jesus came down toe earth to saves us from our original sin, and those who believeth in him will not perish but have an everlasting life.......... Happy myLotting

Thats so true and this is a very beautiful post. We must always remember and never get too busy. I know that many people can no longer take off to rest with so many working more then one job!Sundays are very good days for our family to get together. I consider that a blessing.
