what's the best way to recover from surgery?? I had surgery on my knee on the 30 and it hurts a lot. I find myself being very tired from walking on crutches and probably my body trying to heal everything inside my knee. I ice it as much as I can and take the vicodine mostly at night before bed so I can sleep. Does anyone have any helpful hints on how to feel better? It really stinks :(

Hey there I am a nurse and I can tell that healing from an orthopedic surgery is one of the longest roads to go down as far as helath goes. Since you had the surgery on the 30th you can probably except anywhere from 4-8 weeks for healing and will probably for a while after still have pains here and there. Eat a healthy diet, do the excercises as prescribed my your doctor and remember to take frequent rest periods- spread out your activity. It may be worthwhile to take your pain medication more often if allowed and lastly talk to your physical therapist, you may be making it harder on yourself by not using your crutches to your advantage. Hope this helps and good luck to you. Happy Healing!
