Herbs are generally safer than synthetic medicine. But extreme caution should still be taken when putting herbs and herbal supplement to medicinal use.We should still be careful in anything we are taking for medicinal purposes, because a lot of people experience adverse outcomes with herbal supplement because they trust the company which is marketing the product. So which do you prefer when looking for right medicine herbal or synthetic medicine and why?

Any day I would prefer Herbal medicine to synthetic medicines. Unfortunately, the so called herbal medicines which come these days are usually a mix of herbal and synthetic medicines and it is really difficult to separate the real herbal ones from these mixed ones... Cheers! Ram

You are so right ram. It makes me so mad to see these big companies putting out products that they call "herbal" and "natural", but if you read the labels you see there are a lot of junk you wouldn't want to introduce into your system if you know anything at all about natural or herbal healing!

Hello,Mayrah! I would prefer the herbal medicine over synthetic medicine because it has no side effects. But the herbal medicine is costly and will take longr time to cure than the other one. However we must consult a good physician of herbal medicine before consumption.thanx.

Since I'm an herbalist, of course I choose herbal medicines. I do realize that herbal medicines are powerful and can have side effect. I have a friend who tried drinking oat straw tea (a very benign, soothing herb) to calm her nerves. She had an extreme allergic reaction to it! What we also must consider is the other medications we're taking. If a person in on a maintenance medicine, he/she must know how it will interact with an herb that we might take for an acute problem. By all means, live as naturally as possible, but do your own research into an herb before taking it so you can make an informed decision based on your own conditions.
