Why Haven't I Started My Monthly Cycle???

I am now 5 weeks late starting my monthly cycle. I just don't know what is going on with my body. I have my tubes tied and yes, I know that doesn't matter that I could still be pregnant, that's why I've taken about 4 pregnancy tests in the last two to three weeks and all have come up negative. I have a doctor's appointment but they can't see me until October 23. I've never done anything like this before, so I don't know what the problem could be. Have you ever had something like this happen?

I had my tubes tied and then untied but I can tell you that sometimes when someone gets their tubes tied if can make you go thru early menopause but it can just mess up your cycle and If start having painful cramping and no bleeding I would go to the emergy room asap to rule out that you don't have a tubal pregnancy. A tubal pregnancy can produce a false negative on a pregnancy test. The best advice should come from your doctor and if you get in real bad pain call your doctor.

I have had some pain, not bad. Just an occasional sharp pain. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it or not, but I will tell the doctor when I go on the 23rd of this month. Thanks for your comment. Happy MyLotting!

I'm only 30, so I'm not sure if it would be menopause starting yet or not. I guess it could be since I started my period at a young age. I was only 9 years old. Thanks for the comment and Happy MyLotting!

Hi hgirlo1...I was on the depo shot for 15 years. I did not get my period for 15 years while on the depo. I stopped the depo shot in October 2007 and got my tubes tied instead because the shot is costly and i'm not planning on having any more children. It took 8 months for my period to return. They say it usually takes 1 to 2 years for your period to return after stopping the depo shot...that wasn't true in my case...LOL. Why did you stop the depo shot? I stopped it because my doctor said she had went to a seminar and they are starting to say that the depo shot is dangerous for long term use. I'm thinking that the dizzy spells that i suffer from now may be coming from being on the depo shot too long. :o(

You cannot get pregnant now, unless your tubes are untied. It could be that you might be having early menopause. Has anything else happened? Like are you a bit more cranky lately? Feeling like throwing off the covers at night? Then it is probably yes. It could also be worry or you might not be eating properly. Your doctor will tell you what is wrong and if it starts before then, you do not need to worry.

I don't really think it is menopause, but I guess you can never rule everything out at this point. Only the doctor will be able to tell me for sure. Thanks for your comment. Happy MyLotting!

Honestly there is so many things that can cause this if you are really worried the best thing would be to see a doctor. For me stress is a big thing and get my cycle so screwed up, I have heard of so many things that can change the cycle or make it stop for a month or two and then start again.

Yes, I can't wait until the 23rd to see what the doctor finds out. I'm anxious to know what is going on with my body. Happy MyLotting!

There are times when periods can become inregular due to stress, changes in diet, changes in medication. You are going to see your dr, I will say stop the pregnancy tests as they are costing you money and wait for the 23rd. And yes, I have had something like that happen to me. In my case I had stress to make my period stop, and several drs later I still have no medical cause for that either.

Yes, I have stopped with the pregnancy tests. They do become expensive. I'm hoping it is something simple, which I'm sure it probably is. Thanks so much for your comment and Happy MyLotting!

Sugar don't freight. It doesn't mean that your pregnant. Stress can cause your period to be late. I went without one for almost 6 months. I was worried at first, but I realized I hadn't done anything in that time period, so I couldn't be pregnant. I am also on the pill. Recently within the past year, I found out from the GYN that I had a condition called PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). Basically every month you ovulate but instead of releasing the egg, it forms into a cyst on your ovary. In order to have a mentrual cycle, you have to ovulate, release your eggs, and shed your endometrium. With PCOS this does not occur. Now at first I thought my GYN was full of bologne, but recently, I did a kidney ultrsound and the radiology tech confirmed I did have a large cyst on my ovary. I don't mean to get all technical or anything. A lot of females have cyst on their ovaries. But I understand, I was in that position many times thinking I was with child.

Yes, I've heard of PCOS and I was actually thinking that maybe it is something like that. I know when I was pregnant with my son, my OBGYN told me that I had a cyst on one of my ovaries but that it was normal during pregnancy because it helped with blood flow to the uterus and helped the embryo implant better. I was actually wondering if maybe I still have it. Thanks for the encouragement. Happy MyLotting!

I always experience this ever since I got my period, way before I got sexually active. Must be hormonal imbalance or something. That is the only explanation I can give. Of course, the doctor would still know the best answer.

I have the opposite problem. I have my period every 2 weeks. It has been that way for the past 3 years. I thought maybe it would go back to normal after I had my daughter, but it has not. They are light periods at least. In the time between now and your doctors appointment I would get a home pregnancy test and take it. There are some that you can take really early.

I sympathize with you. After I had my son, I bled for about 5 months straight. I ended up having to have a D & C. I also had her tie my tubes while doing that. After I had all of that done, my period went back to normal. Every 28 days. Thanks for the comment and I think I might go buy another test. Happy MyLotting!

singlemommy I am past that stage now but when i was younger I had one period when I was really stressed out with my work and I went way p ast my monthly cycle. Mydoctor checked me and he could not find anything seriously wrong with me except I was anemic and I was so stressed out. He said stress can do that to you and can also ultimately lead to heart trouble, and diabetes too.so check your stress level and find ways to destress yourself. we all come under stress but we can often choose not to let it bother us.

Yes, I know that life is very stressful and honestly, the past couple months haven't really been very stressful for me. I've been very happy with life, even though I've still had my fair share of problems just like any other person. Thanks for the comment and Happy MyLotting!

How old are you? That can trigger certain changes. I would see my doctor because you can get pregnant any way, as you said. My sister did, it was a tubular pregnancy and could have gotten bad if they hadn't caught it in time.

I used to cramp really bad when I was young, but after I had my children it seemed to not be as bad. I don't know why, but it got easier. Thanks for commenting!

singlemommy, I think you should not be overly concerned and worked yourself up here. It could just be another one of those delays. Sometimes, these delays are just caused by stress, overwork, change of environment, illness or even medications. Just relax and take things easy for a while and see how it goes. Fret no more or it will cost you more than a visit to the doctor. I am wondering about how many bottles of anti aging agents and anti wrinkle creams here already. LOL. Take care and have a nice day.

Yes, I'm sure I have worried too much about it already. I'm trying not to stress myself out about it, but it is hard not to. I'm sure I will start when I least expect it. Thanks for your comment. Happy MyLotting!

Have you ben stressed Lately? It could be nothing-or it could be a medical condition. I would have your OB/GYN check it out. If your tests came back negative you are probably not pregnant. Stress coudl be a big factor. Now that you are worried about not getting it will takelonger for you to get it. Maybe try to relax a little and wait for your appointment. You are going to be fine. Take Care. Let us know what happens.

Thanks for being so caring and supportive. Yes, I keep telling myself that it isn't anything to just relax and it will come, but still it hasn't. I don't know why it is taking so long. I guess it wouldn't bother me, but I've never had this problem before except for the 2 times I was pregnant and I've been menstrating since I was 9 years old. Thanks for the comment and Happy MyLotting!
