Let me start by defining the word encryption - is the conversion of data into a form, called a cipher text that cannot be easily understood by unauthorized people. Read more by clicking this link: http://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid14_gci212062,00.html A close friend of mine is a pHp programmer and told me that Yahoo E-mail has an encryption level of 64-Bit. He can actually crack a yahoo password in exactly 253 seconds. MSN Emails has even a lower level of encryption so it means the password can be cracked at a lesser time frame. Gmail can still be cracked however the person will need to scratch his head off until he cracks because it takes 5 hours before the password can be cracked. To yahoo, msn and gmail users what can you say about this?

I have a msn, yahoo and gmail email accounts. My yahoo get's nothing but spam and I never use it anymore,my hotmail get's nothing but junk and spam also.. I basically use my gmail anymore and I'm quit happy with it. And the way I see it is that if somebody wants in your email box bad enough nothing can keep them out regardless, but if they get caught they will get into very much serious trouble.

Yup gmail is indeed the best but I still use my yahoo and msn emails for other purposes. I suggest that you use your gmail for your financial accounts like PayPal or AlertPay.

Since I've started using Gmail, I fell in love with it right away. First, its autorefresh. It's useful because you can read urgent messages right away if you just leave the Gmail window or tab open while you work. Very handy. Second, its anti-spam. There's where my 7-year-old Yahoo! Mail failed me. I get a lot of spam in the inbox, much more in the Spam folder. Gmail's spam guard, on the other hand, is so stringent that even important mails get placed into the Spam folder. That encryption level you have pointed out has now become my number 3 reason for loving Gmail. Thanks for sharing!

Gmail is actually the #1 Free E-mail provider according to one site I read. I think Yahoo is in 2nd place and MSN is on 3rd or vice versa. Not too sure. Have you ever used a Client Email like Outlook Express? If you use that the encryption level is actually doubled. . Because the servers they use is using SSL encryption.

Im not sure its that important to most people though, as they're not usually targets of people who are as skilled as your friend.

If you're using your yahoo or msn email account for your PayPal account people SHOULD care. Since your "financial" security is going to be compromised.
