Do you have a friend who is long distance?

My best friend lives across the country from me now. I hate it so much because we don't get to go out and do the things most friends do when they live close by. But we usually chat online everyday or other day and call each other at least once a week. Even though she lives so far away we are still just as close as ever and when we see each other it's like no time has passed. Do you have a friend that lives far away and how do you keep the friendship strong over the distance? Do you feel you are still just as close even with the distance?

Hi...My best friend lives in Tennessee and I live in North Carolina. We lost contact for about 11 years. Our husbands were in the military. My husband got out of the military and we moved to North Carolina. I found her husband email address online and i found her again after 11 years. I was so excited when she emailed me and we were able to exchange phone numbers. We keep in touch by phone. Now i'm really excited because her husband will be stationed in North Carolina next summer so she will be moving here. I think it's going to be a wonderful reunion. I can't wait to see her! :o)....Have a good day

I have a friend who lives 3 hours away. Whenever she comes to town we try and get together. Of course its not across country so its easier for us to see one another. We had our babies 2 days apart and its nice to get together with them and it was really nice being pregnant together to compare what we were going through. Shes sweet and the funny part about it is she is my brothers ex girlfriend and when they were going out we didn't get along lol.

Almost all my friends live far away from me. Also, most of the time, if they are free, I will be busy and vice verser! Thus, I have few time to contact with each other. It is a pity. However, I just move to different places when I change my shools including high school, universities. It is imposible to be with someone for a whole life . As a function of time, everything will fade...

I have my bestfriend faraway from me. When he was still here in the Philippines. We talk to each other in the phone for so many hours. We're like the best buddy! He come to my house and sometimes I go to his house. He now lives in Canada. We chat via Yahoo Messenger or sometimes Email. We also tried text each other. But its too expensive. So we just chat. But as time pass by. We often talk to each other. And now we don't have communications. I don't know what's new to him. I hope we could talk to each other again and hope he visit Philippines.

Most of my close friends live far away in other states across the US from where I live now. I still feel as close to my few great friends as I have since we met. That is a wonderful feeling. And the internet has been wonderful, helping us keep in touch!

My cousin who I also consider one of my greatest friends lives in Canada. She'll be there until 2010 but I think she'll work in North America as well after she graduates. :( We're very close so we try to spend a lot of time together when she comes home for a vacation. Of course it's never enough time. But we do talk online once in a while and though we don't see each other, we still share secrets. I think the openness in our relationship has helped to keep the friendship alive.

SKYPE is great if you both have a little video camera in your computer. If not, you can get a camera for as low as $13. Skype is free to sign up online and you can talk to people all over the country. It makes it so much better to be able to see each other while you talk~ ALMOST as good as being together in person.

One of the best friends I've ever had... We became friends on Halloween 19 years ago in California. Just shy of 2 years later, I moved to the east coast. She's lived her whole life in California, I've lived in several placed, but the closest we've lived since I moved was when I lived in Colorado. This was before the internet, so there was no email or online chatting, and lets face it long distance calls aren't exactly cheap (pre-cell phones w/ unlimited long distance plans). We wrote a lot of letters back and forth, we alternated phone cals once a week or so for 20 minutes (not a lot of time to squeeze in all the details). I moved when we were both about 15. We saw each other again when we were 19 and then 21. After than there was a long stretch where we didn't see each other until we were 27. Then 29 and 30. We're hoping to get together next year sometime (we'll be 33). We plan on marking 20 years of friendship with a pair of matching tattoos. We're as close as ever, if not closer. So many exchanges in writing... People tend to be more open in writing. Open about their feelings, open about their lives, open about everything. There are always things people are afraid or embarassed to talk about, even with their best friends. When you take out the talking but leave the communication, it's easier to express those thoughts and feelings. It has made us tremendously close. Not to say that we've never had any disagreements. There have been times that we went months without talking because we were mad at each other. But when one of us needed the other for any reason... we were a phone call away. No amount of p*ssed off will keep either of us from offering support and love to the other.

Yeah, I also have several good friends who live in other cities far away from me. One of them is my best friends and we don't often communicate until recently. Sometimes on long holidays or festival, we will chat vis mobile phone. Though it's long time for us, we feel the same as our hearts are always together and we can have very intimate chats. But it's really pity for us coz we can't have fun together like hanging out shopping, KTV or sports. I can't immagine how will we react when we meet in person, lol. Will we still act like before so natually? Maybe we will need some time to make up for the distance and the strangeness between us, and I believe we are still best friends for each other forever. Really nothing can broke us apart. Distance is not a thing. This year, we are planning to fidn a job in te same city as we are going to settled down and as the age goes, we become less and less mobile and someday we will finally end up with a marriage. It will be very nice if we can live in the same city.

I am out of town and all my friends stay across the country too.We hardly see each other.Worst thing my best friend stays very far,she keeps on moving because of her job and work.We keep in touch only through calls and emails, yes of course we do voice chats and see each other on web cam.It has been almost 3 years I haven't met her other than phone calls, emails and web cam.I say we are still close and connected no matter how far we are, where we are,our bond is still strong and we share a strong bond.

Yes, very long distance! I live in London and my friend, she lives in Missouri in the US. We have become very good friends over the years though. I met her through an online penpal site and our friendship has flourished! She even paid me a visit for the first time two years ago which was nice. We still communicate with eachother via email so we are always in touch. I also have another good friend in Tokyo and yet another in Indonesia! Again, I have found these friends through penpal sites and we are almost like family now. The Internet has definitely made the world a smaller place. Andrew

I do have a friend who migrated to New York. She left last year's December before christmas. A few months before she left we had a little arguement but we rekindle 2 months before she left. I just had a short coming because I'm busy working so I seldom meet her and our friends at the mall of spend time with her. But she understands. Now we always chat and we even update ourselves on whats going on. I miss her so much and she misses us her friends and if she was allowed to go back she will but we are still counting years.
