I got a new cell phone today and I don't know if I will ever learn to operate it! Am I the only one who is so cell-phone challanged? My teens are laughing at me because I can't do things as fast as they can! Oh well, at least I am trying. What about you...is it hard for you to learn a new phone?

Don't feel bad, I am the same way, my nieces and nephew laugh at me. When they text me they use those text abbreviations and I tell them NO, when you text uncle you have to spell all the words out or I will not understand the message. One of them asked if there were cell phones when I was a kid and I said no, we were lucky to have a phone at home at it was an ugly black rotary phone, she said wow you really are old. HAHAHA

I agree. Complete words are what I need too! My kids love to use that text-speak, but I can't do it. I love the telephone picture that you added...brings back fond memories!

Hi Crazynurse, I guess I am relatively okay... but yes, if it is a new piece of gadget, I still need a while to get complete used to it. So don't worry, I would say, take your time to learn the shortcuts and all and soon, you will be using your new phone like you have used it for tens of years! For me, I like to read the phone manuals to discover any non-obvious, non-intuitive functions. It also helps when I choose phone brands (they tend to retain the same user interface) I am used to.

Hey 'Lord'..good to talk to you again. I have had that blasted manual in my hands since yesterday. It isn't very clear...and some steps that it describes just don't seem to work on my phone! It was quite helpful though in many ways.

I love getting a new phone. So many different things to learn how to do. At my last job my co-worker traded her phone in for a blackjack. She couldn't even answer it. She finally gave in after a few days of owning it and had me teacher how to use it. She was amazed I could use it, considering I don't own one. I think for some folks technology just comes easy.

You are surely not alone on this one lol. My one dtr & hubby got me a cell phone 2 years ago Christmas...and I have still yet to figure out how to text message right! (My kids all laugh too) If I had to use their cell phones, which are ALL different, I'd be totally lost, I don't even know how to answer it right lol. By the time I get this one all figured out, it'll probably be outdated then I'll have to start from scratch hahaha. Computers...no prob, I can fix almost anything, but it amazes me that I have so much trouble with something supposedly simpler! Congrats on your new phone...does it come complete with prozac?!

HaHa! It needed to come with a strong dose of Valium! I get so frustrated! I have finally figured out how to open the dang thing (opens in two different directions) and to make a call. Still working on the texting!

Well I am a teen and I am just about the slowest texter around. I hate doing it, and it takes me about 5 minutes to write one sentence! ugh. That's one thing. Other than that I have a pretty simple phone. I tend not to like too much technology, haha, so I stay away from the superfancy phones with all the special features I would never use anyway. It always takes a little while to get used to any new device. Some are easier than others.

It always takes a lot more time than the youngsters to learn the intricacies of new phones of gadgets. But I never give up or disheartened.Constant practice makes you fast enough.

I had dropped mine and then had to get another one. I do not like this one as much as the other one. I am having a terrible time getting used to this one and wish that I had my other one back. This one is smaller and I just dont think its as easy to use!

Yeah it takes me awhile to learn to use my phone, especially when they have all these new features like camera phone, IMing, email, blue tooth, 3G enabled etc. For me, I like to keep it simple. I mostly look for good call reception, low rate of dropped calls, easy to use keypad, throw in a camera phone, alarm clock, and day planner and I'm happy. I'm not super high-tech with my phones. I don't need a sophisticated camera phone anyway when I can use my real camera.

My daughter laughs at me because I cannot text as fast as she can. It's okay though, because I laugh at her. I may be slow, but at least I type words that are spelled correctly Texting is not that hard to do, I sometimes have difficulty with the phone part. My fingers often push the wrong button when I am trying to answer the silly cell and sometimes I have hung up on people by accident.
