What are dreams?

Sometimes, when I dream, it feels as if
days or weeks are passing by.
I find myself in places where I've never traveled
and talking to people I've never met.
But it all seems so real.
When I wake up, only a few hours have
passed.
Sometimes, the dreams are so vivid
they feel more like memories.
And, I wonder if they are memories.
Not memories of my own life, but, memories of another person's life.
Do you believe that's possible?
Could dreams be a way that humans connect
to each other around the world and through time?
Or, are they just soap operas made up by our subconscious
to amuse itself while we sleep.?

dreams are something to wonder about. i used to be really obsessed with them to a point where i tried to analyze them. i have a dream dictionary and everything. but i do know what you're saying. sometimes a dream can be so realistic that you don't know if its a dream or not. sometimes i know its a dream because i may look different, and be in a different place but it would still feel realistic.
i've only had 1 real dream where i didn't know i was dreaming till around the end. its crazy how time flows in your dreams. i always think about it like i'm watching a movie. sometimes its like that. my point of view can be from several different angels from being inside a person from looking down on them like an observer. i rarely have dreams of what i think are memories or the past, but more of an alternate dimension of things happening. i've had a couple of dreams where i was really effected by it. one of which i dreamnt my husband took on another wife and i was stuck sleeping in the room with my kids while my husband took this other woman to bed and i could hear the noises. the setting was in my house and it felt real, but somewhere i thought this wasn't real. well, at that time i woke up crying and i was in shock for about 2 days because i could still feel the pain i felt in the dream.
a few other dreams i had felt like it was predicting future events. when i first met my husband when we first started dating i had a dream of me holding a little boy and my husband (boyfriend at the time) was playing a video game at an arcade and i pointed and said "look at daddy" and then i work up. i was surprised because the thought of marriage and having a child with him (especially predicting it was going to be a boy) didn't cross my mind. so those kind of dreams where really cool because now i am married to him and i have 2 little boys.

That's an amazing dream to see yourself
in the future tense with a child, already married.
Before my daughter was born (and while I was pregnant)
I kept having dreams about holding a blond haired baby.
And, when she was born, she had super light blond
hair.
There's no way I could have known, other than the dreams,
that her hair would be blond. Cause my own hair is naturally
dark brown.

There's a lot of mothers, especially while pregnant with the child who have dreams about their child that comes true. they say its because of the connection between the two its like they can communicate with each other. i believe that as well.
with my 2nd son, when i first got pregnant, i though and insisted it was a girl. we kept saying 'she' and 'her' and saying her name that we picked which was Angel Marie, BUT the night before my ultrasound i had a dream with my child basically screaming at me 'DAMN IT I'M A BOY!' i woke up thinking...what? and needless to say, the ultrasound confirmed it. he was a boy. so i think mothers do have that kind of bond

Wow, that's kind of a cool idea to chew on, beautyqueen. But deeper than I feel like thinking right now, haha (sorry, having a sinus attack right now

I know my dreams are all very vivid and seem like movies on a big screen. My doctor once told me that a medication I take is making that happen with me. So there is a little something for your theory......

Sometimes a dream is just about
something you ate before bed.

I've often had the same thing happen. I'll hear music that I've never heard, know things that I couldn't possibly know or know how to do things that I'd have no clue how to do. I've often wondered if maybe I wasn't tapping into other ppl's lives. I guess there's no way to know for sure but it is an interesting thought.

They say some dreams are memories of past lives or out of body expires. I do not know if that is true or not. I know that I have been to the same house in my dreams several times. I have been doing different things but I have been there several times. I know this house and I have been there. I wake up feeling so loved and refreshed when I visit this house in my dreams.

What a cool and crazy idea. I think that anything is possible. I dream just like I read books. Very vividly. Can you imagine if we really were connecting with another person. Kind of like deep subliminal telepathy and telekinesis. I wonder if there is another dimension in time. What about the people that don't dream vividly though. Does that mean that they haven't moved on to that next level and reach that mental state or ability? I know that seems pretty far fetched, but while we are at it what the heck. That would be really cool. I wonder...That could be the making of a really good book beautyqueen.
