Ya I fully agree, the movie was beautifully created and the plot so slowly and gracefully that you could not but watch it with awe. I would like to say that it is Frank Darabont's best work ever(except perhaps the Green Mile). There is neither a word nor a scene out of place. Perhaps the great movie ever fully deserves to be at the top of all time great movies in imdb.com...

I also like the Green Mile! I actually started collecting each of the 6 books in the series and waited until I've completed them before I read the story. Only then did I watch the DVD that my husband has bought months ago and it didn't disappoint. The casting there was also well done and Tom Hanks once again proved how versatile and talented an actor he is.

I also like Shawshank Redemption because it's a such a good story that affirms there is always hope if we are determined enough to look for it. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman were cast perfectly in their roles. I always cry at the end of that movie when Andy and Red were finally reunited. One great example of beautiful friendship that upholds the wonderful concept of acceptance and knowing that color nor boundaries should hinder the best of relationships.

Hello writermom! Yes, I liked and appreciate their friendship too. How their relationship grow into a good friendship was really nice. I cried the part where Morgan Freeman found the letter and the money that Tim Robbins left for him so he had the means to follow Tim Robbins to Mexico with their dream of a new life and finally that smile on their face when they saw each other again at the sea shore with Tim on their dream boat. Wow! Thanks, Sheena

I think it is a great movie too. I was really surprised when I learned that it was based on a Stephen King novel as well because it is so different to the other types of books and movies he has been involved with. I haven't seen it for a long time though.

ya it's one of my fav too, indeed it's the highest rated movie & remain at the top spot in imdb ( internet movie database) http://www.imdb.com/ followed by The Godfather. I like one quote of M Freeman when he came out after his appeal was rejected.... " different day same old shi*!" ...lol... Tim Robbins played a gr8 role in this movie whose role was given to Tom Hank but he couldn't do it as it collide with the making of 'Forest Gum' Cheers!!!

I am a fan of this movie as well. I remember the first time I saw it. I wondered how a man that says he never killed his wife spends life in prison and later on when evidence point that he didn't do it, the truth gets covered up? I couldn't help but applaud Andy for what he did down the road. sorry, that's just my opinion.

Hello Savvy, No, don't be sorry at all. I wondered too but in the end I realized that Tim Robbins had a purpose inside Shawshank, the evil warden killed his self in the end. Thanks, Sheena
