How to destroy an INDUSTRY and a country's ECONOMY!

Yes, it is true.
Socialism is toxic to the human spirit. Here's not a theoritical musing or some internet forum BS, but a real life example.

I say that if people can not look at the results of what socialism brings to a country and an economy, then those in a free society who vote for it deserve what they get.
What do you say?

I think like you do. They deserve what they get. Only problem is, those of us who do not vote for it will caught up into the aftermath as well! That's what is scary!
HE just lied on line (Obama). He just said they would start having community organization meetings to get OUR output into the next presidency. You know that is not something he or anyone else will ever do!

Agreed. You would think that by now people would have picked up on this lying technique. But people are still vulnerable when they are promised change. They just don't realize what kind of change they are about to get if this guy is elected! When their pay check starts getting smaller, things keep going up and all the taxes are in place, it will be too late.

You left out restrictions on free speech from limiting criticism of government, shrinking of 2d admendment rights, and appointment of Supreme Court Justices who will destroy the USA as a place of liberty even more.

Thanks for adding those. I've been using the loss of freedom on people around here. Again, people are just not thinking. Just heard this morning that McCain is coming up again in the polls - all of them. Hope he fights and bring them up more and more every day.

Yesterday I responded to your discussion about Iraq by saying not to put all your eyes into one basket. Once again we are witnessed to the intoxicating allure of socializing the nations oil industry, and using the profits to fund the nation's budget. When a nation ties revenue of a commodity to funding national welfare, that nation will die off. Every commodity that has exist and will exist will raise and fall in price. Proof once again that capitalism works and government does not.

One does wonder how many people have to lose their jobs or become poverty stricken before people catch on how inefficient government is at running anything.
Having served in the US ARMY, been a contractor to the USPS, and an independent trucker, I have been in large organizations and a small self employed businessman.
The small businessman can out maneuvar the large organization everytime. This is largely because of the kind of person most likely to rise to the top of the larger organizations. In really large organizations, political skill can be more important than actual technical knowledge of the activity in which the organization is engaged. This results in the large organization having a really lumbering, inefficient, slow response to changing situations.

"All this means that Venezuela has missed much of the benefit from the oil boom and, now that prices are falling, Mr Chavez faces huge financial problems. Nobody is sure at what point his government would be unable to pay its bills, but most sources consulted believe this would probably happen if oil falls to $80 a barrel. Yesterday, oil was trading at $79.80."
Hello Red,
You know my evaluation of socialism, so I'll spare all the rumination.
What I would like to comment on is the above excerpt from your linked to article.
This is very troubling to me because if Chavez can't pay his bills, then he's either going to have to call in favors, or humble himself to other unfriendly's. If he is able to call in favors, then I would predict escalating tensions in the America's, though particularly in South America. I would not be at all surprised to see Chavez start a war down there to bolster Venezuela's position.
If he chooses to humble himself to other unfriendly's, then we're looking at an international nightmare. China, N. Korea, Iran and Russia. Those are the only countries that might come to Venequela's rescue. Pretty scary, huh?

There has been talk of oil producing countries attempting to covertly stir up trouble in parts of the world where it would not impact themselves directly in a war (too bad if it does someone else) so they might benefit from the resulting increase in oil price. Sure, these things happen. Yes, it is scary.
