Watch TV while having meals!!

I remember I like to watch the cartoons while having my lunch or dinner when I was a little boy~my parents just keep prevent me doing that kinda things and the reason then was I will not grow up if I watch TV when having meals~a little bit funny so?Even when growing up little by little,sometime I still have this so-called bad habbit,of coz this time is movie or soap opera instead of cartoons``To be frankly,I know it's somewhat hurt the stomach and being attractive by the exciting gut~I can not help try again and again.So,how about you mylotters?Will you do that-watching TV while having your meals~?

i eat my dinner in front of the television. I carry my plates and utensils with me. hehehehe. My mom always gets mad at me, but I guess she's getting used to it.

Hello,Tony! No TV watching is allowed in our family as it distracts eating and sometimes it so happens that we eat more than our normal diet and ultimately effect the digestive system.Instead we play light music at the time of eating meals and while sleeping.thanx.

Yea,what you mentioned is just correct~~you will eat more than usual unconscious while watching TV,which will lead us to be fater or something bad~It's a good rule of your family~have a nice day`

Hi friend!
Well, children are taught not to eat in front of the TV because it distracts them from eating properly and fast. Science say that if one's eating time is distracted the food is not thoroughly digested and that their hunger is antiquated.
I don't watch TV while I'm eating. Even if I can hear the TV I don't get distracted by it. I think the other way around. I like to finish first what I am eating so nothing will distract me while I'm watching hehe.

i do that most of the time especially when i am like the star on HOME ALONE..
eating while watching TV, or even playing with my console games.
i think everyone of us had done it once in their life.
i know it's laziness but sometimes you really can't help it.

i still do that till now.When i was a kid, i eat every meal infront of the television.I do these whatever the show is.My mom usually asks me to go back to the table and it together with them.But most of the times,we get away with it.
Up to now,i still eat in front of the tv.Especially on my own apartment,i eat in front of the television all the time.even when im visiting our ancestral house in
the province.i still do the same thing.and my mother doesn't bother to tell me what to do anymore.lol!

sometimes...i prefer read a comics or magazine when get lunch or dinner.but i did it when i'm alone.my parents always yelling me-don't read or watching when u're eat. but i'm disobeyed when i'm live at my rent house. i don't care what they said...oups! :P

It's fun watching TV while eating, it's my hobby. But not with meals because when I eat meals while watching a movie I sometimes missed some scenes and cannot concentrate much on their dialogs. So most of the time I eat snacks specially chips while watching, though I know it's bad for my health and can make me fatter.

Hi Tony, if I'm having dinner alone, then I would most likely eat in front of the TV, watching movies or news. As long as I'm laughing till tears, or having an emotional reaction, then my stomach is okay.
Actually it's bad for digestion, as we are paying more attention to the show, rather than to eating itself. I think that's why our parents did not allow us to watch TV while eating!

I watch tv while eating a lot of the time. I dont like eating with a bunch of people at a table. It is always so quiet and awkward and I always feel like everyone is watching me eat and so I always feel uncomfortable. During Thanksgiving and Christmas and other big dinners it is different because there are lots more people who havent seen eachother in a long time and so there is a lot more talking going on which makes it a lot less awkward.

I have a habit of watching TV too while having meals, I may not pay much attention to what is going on on the TV but need it to be turned on anyway. Some people say watching TV while eating may make you over eat since you are not paying attention to how much you are eating. Maybe a little channel surfing might burn off a few calories.

I also like watching TV while eating. thats the only time i watch tv on a weekday. since most of the time I'm at work. my son also watches tv but i see to eat that his food is finished. and everytime his eyes sets on the television his mouth is full.

The responses here confuse me. How on earth does one get distracted from eating by television? I guess I'm just odd. I watch television, eat, and when I'm full I stop eating. I can not only focus on the television, I can focus on what I'm munching on. -shrug- I usually watch TV; I live in a dorm and eat small meals there (full meals in the cafeteria), so I usually have the TV on for company.

Did your parents really convince you that you will not grow up if you watch TV when having meals? I've not heard such an old wives' tale before. I watch TV when having my dinner all the time, and I certainly have grown a lot over the years, both upwards and sideways...LOL. It so happens that my dinner times coincide with prime time television, so usually there are entertaining sitcoms, game shows or blockbuster movies shown during such times that I will not want to miss while eating. Besides, it serves as a form of entertainment for the whole family, besides our interactions over the dinner table.

Yea,it's a long story of my childhood~`lol~sometimes they shouted at me if I keep my mouth open for a while with eye sticked to the TV screen~`.Maybe they need to find some excuses to push me eating~lol. @speedtech (52)

when having meal i like to watch some movies. it would be so boring to have a meal without any entertainment. the genre of movie that i like to watch will having my meal are cartoons, comedies and action. but i prefer to watch action movies though.

Action movies will be always my farvorite style`however,I don't watch movie during my meal times,the reason is quite simple than I will have full in my eye other than my mouth then`~lol`~thanks for sharing~

I'm the same as you, bro. My parents didn't mind much when I was a kid and I still do it when I go back to their place in my hometown, so I still carry that habit now when I'm staying by myself (and single :P). The funny thing is, when I go out to eat, I always go to a place with a TV or something to watch too. Sometimes I even read magazines. The only time I don't watch TV while eating is when I'm with my friends, because we would be talking and joking a lot that I won't be bothered to watch anyway.

Hi friend,We at home have the habit of watching t.v while eating,but not always.Only at dinner time but my daughter always eats in front of the t.v.But we keep shouting at her for doing so.She never listens,she is addicted to watch movies while eating.She never looks into the plate,but only her hand will be moving from mouth to the plate and eyes on the t.v.Sometimes we think of even placing papers in the plate so that she would eat even the papers without looking into the plate.

It's so cute of your daughter~I did do so when I was a little boy,however,I did watch carefully what I was eating in my plate,lol coz I was somewhat food avoidance at that time

hi frends....we shud not watch tv while having meals...bcos...it is not good for health.....if u watch the tv....then u dont know how much u r eating and wat ur eating....surveys tells that.....people who eat by watching tv will become il health or something like that and its a true thing....but i cant have mymeals unless i watch tv....as it became the daily procedure....i get bored if i dont watch tv while eating.but i make sure that...i willl look at wat i eat even if iam watching tv.....thanq....happy mylottting....
