I enjoy shopping to a great extent, it sort of destresses me, a costly way no doubt to destress, lol. I try to curtail my shopping to what I need, but many a times I end up shopping for something I really do not need. So these days I have made it a point to carry just enough money so that I will not spend unnecessarily. Do you guys adopt some means or the other to stop shopping.. How do you do it. Tell all.

You need to be like me and have no money to shop at all.
My sister goes shopping but basically I have to wait and struggle to buy what I actually need.
I guess there's a lot of fun in wild shopping but ask yourself how mush use do you put into all the things you buy ?
You might then discover how little of those things you really need.
Luv you anyway !

Hey blue, May God grant you money and money to go shopping. I too these days feel the pinch with the high cost of living, so I very sensibly carry just enough money to buy the necessities of life. Luv to you too.

I love shopping and I do get moments when I feel like swapping my credit card to no end. One can easily get carried away sometimes. Before I was married I was like this, however, these days, I try to control myself by imagining the credit card billing statement. This usually is enough to stop me. I found it easier to not spend so much money when I did not have a credit card because I can really see how much money I am spending. With a card, everything is abstracted. You just see your bill and you realize you have spent too much but too late. :)
This is why I can soh relate to Becky Bloomwood in the Shopaholic series!

Hehe, welcome to the club. But as you say, the main cause of overspending is the Credit card, so its always better to carry money and leave the card at home. Then we can acatually feel the pinch. Happy, sensible shopping.

I love shopping... but because money is tight right now... i can only buy things that my daugter and i really need... so when i go to the mall... i try not to look at stuff that would tempt me to buy... or i do not bring extra money with me... that way i don't have anything to pay with... so i won't be tempted to buy stuff that i like but do not really need...

I normaly only go shopping when there is a good sale going on. I will either make a list of what I plan to get or set a dollar amount that I am alloud to spend and I discipline myself to stay within those limits.

Yes, the kids always come first. We can stay without this and that, but we always prefer to keep our kids well stocked with thier necessities. Love is like that. Good luck to you and your family and may you never want for anything in life. Amen.
