Do you approve of government earmarks?

"Congress just passed a bill containing more than 500 earmarks. Among those are the Parking Garage to Nowhere, a visitor's center that you can't visit, a federal grant to restore a mounted fish, and $10,000 in federal money to support a fashion and portrait show. Is it any wonder why Congress has a single-digit approval rating? This is the kind of reckless, arrogant, out-of-control spending that we oppose. Help Grassfire rally an additional 50,000 citizen petitions this month in time for our next presentation to key leaders in Congress demanding an end to earmark spending."
Here is a petition to sign to end the earmarks, or at least to make them tell us before they pass them!

If it was earmarked to fix a school roof that was leaking or something that made sense, but the ones you listed sound stupid to me. At a time when the Middle and Lower Classes are struggling and over 50% can't pay their mortgages and are loosing their homes, this makes no sense to me. Thanks for telling us. Take care.

I signed it. I do not know if it will do any good. You should have told us that they want our address and telephone number. Saying that our email is safe does no good if they can phone me. My husband does not like Americans that much, but I did not want to see silly earmarks passed.

That is a bit of a loaded question. No body wants earmarks until your state needs something. We all know about some really stupid earmarks. I wish there was a way to study the need for them. I think that our congress people have asked for earmarks or money to help Texas recover from the hurricanes. Those are earmarks, so where do you draw the line? There should be a way to justify the need for this money.

Also known as 'PORK'! This is why many good bills end up not being
signed, because there is so much junk attached! And the President
(whoever that happens to be at the time) gets bad press for vetoing
it... people need to read the entire bill! Thanks for making people
a little smarter!
