Have you ever left the cap off your Sharpie or marker pen and it dried out?

My daughter is always using my color Sharpie pens
for her coloring book.
Then she leaves the caps off or takes
them away to use them as fake fingernails.
Either way, I don't find out till a day later
where she has the pens stashed.
By then my Sharpies are dried out.
And, then I have to buy another set.
Have you ever left the cap off
your favorite Sharpie or marker pen?

I have a big bucket of markers that I use for charting and I'm always really careful about not leaving caps off b/c the cat will get hold of them and chew them...not a good thing...besides I hate having to replace them.

Yes, I use these at work and I usually lay them down and forget to put the cap back on them and they become dry, I do the same thing with the ones at home too. I hate when this happens it ruins a good sharpie. I love the fine point sharpies that is as thin as a pencil.

I do home daycare so my markers are always being left laying around with no caps. *sigh* I don't let the kids get near my sharpies, but they are always ruining the ones I buy for them. I did find a good use for dried out markers though! When we do water play we fill a clear tub with water and I give them little clear plastic cups to scoop and pour the water. If you throw a dried out washable marker in the tub with the water the color will leach out and tint the water a lovely shade. It makes it more fun for the kids and I am getting some use out of something I would have just thrown away.
