How can one develop interest in cooking?

Who on this earth would not love EATING? And what about the efforts that can take you to this EATING?I do not remember when i last entered the kitchen while I lived with my parents. I was one person who could not stand cooking or even learning cooking. I always felt 'it's not my job' I would live on fastfood, bakery items, restraunts, but never liked cooking for myself, if i had to. But today, I don't like cooking what I had cooked previously. I am amazed at this interest that I have developed over the past couple of years. Now that I cannnot depend on anyone for 'food' and eating outside has treated me real bad, I started cooking as a compulsion. However, today cooking has become my passion. This is how all this happened: 1. I changed my mind from thinking 'I had to cook, because I had to eat' to 'There are others who depend on food' 2. Whenever I cooked, I always ensured I got the right feedback. Initially the feedback was disappointing; however, I took it positively. 3. I bought some recipe books on breakfast and lunch..........This was a kickstart for my interest. 4. Now, I started getting some good praises, and was happy that others liked what I cooked..... from the recipe books! 5. This is the time for me to start experimenting.......my interest in cooking mounted many times. I realized that whatever we do, we have to do with passion and committment, this is a sure road to success! And, if you don't have the passion but can't do without, then deliberately create it! This has been my story, hope it helps!

Cooking can be seen to be simply a means to an end.."we need to eat,so let's get it over and done with as little fuss as possible"...on the other hand,We have many social celebrations that involve food and family in all cultures, where more thought, planning and creativity come into play..There's a point after which you realise rather than just being a mindless, mechanical activity,Both eating and food creation can be a creative and pleasurable activity for all involved. A Chef in the UK,Jamie Oliver, has been actively campaigning in recent years to improve the nation's health from grassroots level by encouraging firstly school canteens to get away from the "Chips with everything" mindset that is considered to be a prime cause of Obesity in Children. His new Series on TV,called "Ministry of Food",is designed to spread the word of how simple cooking is,and to give as many people as possible a repertoire of simple, basic dishes. The project started with a "Class" of about 8 people,in which each week He demonstrated a dish.the class prepared their own version, then they were tasked to pass the dish on to as many of their circle of friends or family as possible. In another related experiment,He then took over a football field that had been set up with camping gas stoves and equipment,Demonstrated to and had 2 people prepare a simple chicken dish, then had them demonstrate it for 2 other people,so as the day went on,there were 2,then 4,then 8, then 16 people being shown how to do this..There was a Guy at this event,a Miner all his life,Who'd never cooked for himself, and the event was a revelation for him! He'd caught the cooking bug..He was so enthusiastic about the whole thing!

Pals, that is a great way to change your thinking.. I have been blessed with the opportunity to do the cooking for my family for many years and have enjoyed it very much.. Now, although, it is just the two of us, so we do a lot of eating out.. I do love to watch the cooking channel on TV, it is on almost all day and some of the shows are really good.. You can learn so much from watching this channel, I know that although I have cooked for years, I am now learning more than ever before.. Keep up with the new philosophy of yours and you may turn out to be one of the world's best cooks.. Cooking, eating and feeding others can be very rewarding and it is a great way to spend time with friends and family.. We normally go out to eat with friends and we spend at least 2 hours eating and talking with them, so we do enjoy our meals and our time with them.. Good luck to you and have fun Mylotting..
