Stop using the Bible as an excuse for the madness

Does anyone else feel that every single war, every atrocity, every single excuse for attack seems to stem back to the bible, or I should say the several different versions of the word of God. I find that with almost every religion there is a belief in one God. That being said, why is it because there are so many different religions, that your faith/religion is better than his/her or mine? I find through history that a leader will use the word of God as an excuse to overtake another culture/religion, why? Because they are not practicing their religion, their view? Again I will stress...excuse. One common thing I have found within every religion is...Thou Shalt not kill...no matter which religion. I think religion is personal and should be practiced how an individual feels..not how a leader feels, that always seems to end dangerously. The last time we saw what a leader like that could do, it was geonocide and the leaders name was Hitler. Now don't bash what I say..I just want to know what people really feel. Is religion used as an excuse for war?

I hope this helps you understand. God does not want war. Those that you see using the Bible as an "excuse" for war are wrong. God’s word declares peace and love not war and hate. Although the word of God talks about war, this does not go to say that HIS word states we are to be at war. People make decisions for themselves, and we can not blame God when we make the wrong decisions. God Bless, Pastor Don

I agree completely, most war is started by a group standing behind the bible. As I stated above it is an excuse by weak people to try and have the almighty with them. What they don't understand is they will have to answer to Him eventually. God is peace NOT war.

I read somewhere "God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts!" I think that describes the situation best. If God loves all his people, why would he order one to kill another. It doesn't make sense.

While believers in the Bible have a history in the past of using their religion to justify war, isn't the problem today more associated with the Koran? I believe Christians have pretty much learned the message of peace preached by Christ.

I agree that Christians seem to have learned from their mistakes, not to say we've never forced our views on others, such as converting Native Americans, and to this day missionary work that we do in the rain forest, or the holy war, and salem witch trials. If you read any section of the Koran you'll find it expresses peace, it is zealots who misconstrue the reasoning and use it as an excuse, hence the terrorism we face today. Unfortunately I see more and more Christians leaving the faith, even though there are problems in every religious sect I believe people without religion are an even more dangerous animal. Thank you for your comment, it's appreciated!!

I agree with you, every war seems to stem from "God" some religion or other, and I think it's a cop-out.How could a religion make it ok to kill another human being just because they are from another faith. It disgusts me,this is why I am not of any church-going religion,I have my beliefs and if they differ from yours,so what!

Nice comment! Exactly! Faith is what you make of it, wether it be in a church, synagogue or mosque. It's the person who ultimately makes the correct or incorrect decision. Standing behind the bible doesn't make you right, it makes you wrong.

If there's no God in the word "religion" then religion is not excuse for war.. But i believed that God do not like war..God commanded his people to love one another and that we are doing now, loving each other. God is presence in the right religion but there are several religion who pretended that they believed in God, and call in the name of God, but God doesn't know them.
