Frankenfoods! Run for your lives!

According to Consumers Union: The Food and Drug Administration is opening the way for grocery stores to sell food made from genetically engineered animals. And the agency is proposing that these products, called “Frankenfoods” by some, be sold to you without your knowledge. What is happening to the freedom our soldiers are fighting for? The freedom of knowledge and freedom of choice. We have very little and we are going to lose more.

I've been buying most of my food from local farms. I feel better knowing where my food comes from, and that no genetic engineering is being used. I don't believe that there is enough known about genetic engineering to know that it is safe, especially in long term effects.

The authorities who allow this kind of food on our shelves do not care about people. I wonder what has happened to these people in authority.

I haven't heard much about this and I do think they need to tell ppl what they are buying but realistically if they do, ppl would probably avoid using just b/c they "think" they won't like it. If they don't tell them what it is, ppl will assume that it the real thing and won't realize the difference until it's all been replaced. I do know that alot of the animals that are grown for market...pigs, cows, chickens, ect....are injected with growth hormones, subjected to inhumane conditions and God knows how many cases there has been of sick and injured animals being processed regardless of regulations. Like I said I haven't heard much about them or what their nutritional value is or anything but if it is close enough to the real thing and doesn't hurt us, chances are that's what we'll be eating. I believe it will be dangerous for us to eat, but they will try to get us to eat it anyway.
