I love my laptop!! It's a Toshiba Satellite with Windows Vista and only 5 months old. I've had no problems with it, I use it daily now instead of my desktop. I take it everywhere I go. It came with Vista already on it. My desktop I had built custom built about 2 yrs ago and at first, I had installed Windows XP. I bought Windows Vista to upgrade it and I've had nothing but problems with it. It tends to be very sensitive, the System Restore won't work on it and I end up losing everything when it crashes because I can't restore. I have to re-install the whole operating system. I went back to XP on it. But, not my lpatop. I can do anything with it and not worry about sensitivity.

I must say if I have to choose a laptop brand that I favor the most ~ it's the Mac. I currently run on Tiger, but would LOVE to run Leopard! I think mac does the best job in providing reliability and support. When I was having trouble with it, I just took it to the store and they helped me fix it for free!! But thats my personal opinion. My favorite netbook brand is the Acer brand though ~ they are my favorite PC brand overall. I don't really know that much about desktops though!

Your windows xp desktop computer probably wasn't able to meet the system requirements of windows vista or if it did the "recommended" system requirements should have worked especially the computer is much older than your laptop. I like both laptops and desktops. The advantage of laptops is it's convenient and you take it anywhere you want, the disadvantage it you cannot upgrade the RAM or or the video RAM. As for desktop computers, I like it because it's cheaper and we can add a lot of peripherals to it.
