Size of Government

There was a news story that the State of Minnesota is now the largest single employer in Minnesota. This is disturbing to me because it gives those workers more political power than any other group. This means the government answers to the bureaucracy. these people will be electing their bosses and can make demands on them for higher wages and fringe benefits or they will get voted out. It is time to cut the size of government and make more of the services private and not funded through the government. Look what happened when the government dropped it monopoly on the Parcel Post delivery. We got UPS and Fed Ex competing with each other and we got better service. It even forced the USPS to become more efficient and customer friendly. I would like to see private run schools, roads and even fire protection. I am sure there are other government agencies that could be cut and replaced by private business that would give better service an more accountability.
