Things to do on your birthday

IN a matter of five days, it's already the 20th of October. My friend Dianne and I will celebrate our birthday on this very special day. On this day, we will be 19. Dianne is not here in the Philippines for us to celebrate our day together. She is in the states for her scholarship. Even if we are separated by distance, were still close from each other deep within our hearts... Now, I can't think of some things to spend my birthday which falls on a Monday here in the Philippines. Last year, I celebrated my debut with family and friends on an EcoPark. There we rode a bicycle, row the boat, and many more.. I don't want to have a party wherein you have to wear gowns and dance with 18 roses, actually, we don't have the money for that very expensive party so I settled, (we settled) for what fits our budget and to make it extraordinary, I made the party the way I want it to be and I am happy with the results. ***** Last Saturday, my friends and I were talking and then suddenly the party ideas popped out since they remembered that my birthday is coming. My other friend said that, since I celebrated my party last year with a WEIRD concept, why not do a wall climbing this time? The word WEIRD there made me thought of: Err, is it a compliment or what? --But I settled with the idea that I like things to go my way, so why waste thinking of others thoughts on me? im just wasting my time thinking of what they are thinking about me so, throw it off. its useless anyway. As of the moment, I still have no plans for my birthday. Maybe, you, mylot buddies can give me an idea on how to spend my 19th birthday. :)

Every birthday is worthy of a celebration, regardless of the person‘s age. A birthday is a milestone in our life and as such should be acknowledged. The “celebration” does not have to be large but there does need to be one. It can be just as much fun to have a special meal with family at home or a huge one with hundreds of guests at some fancy place. Personally I prefer the special meal at home with those special people in my life. Of course not all our family are able to join us for every birthday, just as we are nit able to always be with them, we celebrate as they live some distance from us but we always make sure we phone each other on that day. However we always try to see our children on those special birthdays, i.e. 21st, 30th and so on and they in turn always make sure they are with us for our 55th, 60th birthday. So far we have been able to see our grandchildren on every birthday that they have celebrated but no doubt as we get older ourselves that will not always be possible. The travel might be the deciding factor as going a distance might not always be possible but we will be doing or best anyway and cross each bridge as we come to it. Like with your friend Dianne who was not in the Philippines for her birthday, you can still celebrate her birthday by either talking to her on the phone, sending her a birthday or ecard or even an email. It is the acknowledgement that a friend has a special day and the distance between you is immaterial as you have that spirit of friendship. That is what you need to keep alive and maybe when she returns to the Philippines you can have a sort of combined celebration for both her return and a belated birthday. Sometimes it is not possible due to work and other commitments to celebrate our birthday in the way that we would like on the actual day that it falls. In those instances if we want to go out somewhere special with family and friends, then we can do it either the weekend before or the weekend after our actual birthday. I believe though when it comes to children, there should be a party of some sort on their actual birthday so they realise what the celebration is all about. A birthday does not need to cost a lot of money and in fact often the ones which are more about fun and cost little are the best ones of all. How did you end up spending your 19th birthday and was it fun for everyone?

Me, when I have my birthday I am always at work or out of the house. And when I get back my family have simple surprises. I celebrated my birthday always simple because of low budget and actually I want always to make it simple. I guess I look at myself not special on my special day.
