According to the Daily Telegraph, David Tennant would like to stay with Doctor Who until 2011 IF they throw in a film role. Good news for his fans, but how do people feel about the idea of a Doctor Motion Picture?
For me, part of the Doctor's appeal has been the small screen aspect. I remember eagerly awaiting the X-Files movie (1st one), but was not so thrilled with the final product. I think that sometimes, the television format doesn't translate well to the big screen. They are completely different animals.
What do you think?

I'd actually like a Doctor Who film, if it's good. It's been over 40 years since the last time they did one. This time, I'd like to see it more integrated with the serial. I had wondered if they might do one on the Time War. Although with David Tennant in it, that seems unlikely.

You bring up a good point. The Time War would provide the perfect venue for a feature film. It has the scope necessary for a film. So, I could be wrong about the translation problem.
You're right with David in it, it would be difficult to make that work. However, if Chris Eccleston could be persuaded to participate, you could have a dual Doctor situation that impacts the Time War in a different way. Not that the outcome should change. I, personally, enjoy watching the character deal with being the last of his kind. I think the Time Lords will have to return, but as a new group not a resurrection of the old.

The Time War contains a lot of stuff that hasn't been seen, yet has affected how the new series has been done. It would be nice to get the backstory (don't know if they've done any other stuff on it like books).
Possibly, you could have the eight doctor in it - Paul McGann I think it was - and have it regenerate into Christopher Ecclestone's version.

Do they count him? I mean I know they "count" him, but that movie was such a one shot thing. Love Eric Roberts, but still, it was sort of a shot in the dark and never really went anywhere. Did love the scene where he's picking out a costume and goes through all the other costumes of previous Doctors.
But the Time War would make a great film. It has everything needed for a feature, you're right.
