Hi my son was born with congenital heart defect known as tetralogy of fallot with absent pulmonary valve. He had full repair at 3 months old and is now doing great. I am looking for people that have children with this problem. Jayden wasnt diagnosed until he was 2 days old. I had 11 ultrasounds. I think that pregnant women should be checked more clearly for defects in the fetus. what is your oponion?

my daughter was born with Severe Pulmonary Stenosis & Atrial Septal Defect. She had a murmur and her doc kept putting it off saying it was innocent. It was not innocent. After being released from the hospital we started noticing strange symptoms and again the doctor was putting it off saying it was colic. I was literally seeing my little girl turn into a blueberry. She was in the beginning phases of heart failure. We changed docs right away and her new doc had ordered tests ASAP and we got the results the same day. The next 2 months we were preparing for surgery for her PS. Unfortunately, when we had asked if it couldve been picked up in utero her cardiologist said no. The reason being is the Pulmonary valve is too hard and small to see in utero, it's one of those defects that gets diagnosed after they are born. She visits the cardiologist every year now as opposed to every 6 months like it was. She needs to take antibiotics for the dentist and surgery. Her ASD is small-moderate. We will find out next year at her card appt if the ASD is still there and as to what they want to do since she will be of school age. She also has a genetic condition called Noonan Syndrome. My son and I have Noonan's as well but no heart defects.

I happen to have a congenital heart disease and I had my open-heart surgery last May 2004 for a mitral valve replacement. It costs us much. Its really advisable nowadays to have pregnant women checked, the technology is awesome. Should there had been anything like that before, my disease could have been detected earlier. My diagnosis was infective endocarditis, since I already have a congenital heart defect I'm more prone to this stuff, and people acquire it by merely visiting a dental clinic. Dental procedures trigger infective endocarditis coz the bacteria attacks the weakest tissue in the body and since the heart is the closest organ from our mouth and since its also the weakest, in my situation, i got the disease. The symptoms usually starts from high fever and chills and then fatigue. So is he taking anti-coagulants now? I'm taking coumadin 2.5 everyday and its a lifetime medication for me plus any other pills that will normalize my heart rate coz usually when its really hot i suffer from palpitations.
