How does my child have Blue/Gray eyes?

I'm wondering. I'm African American and so is my Boyfriend. We both have Brown eyes. We recently had a daughter and she was born with Blue/Grey eyes. At first I didn't pay much mind to it because most babies that are born with blue/grey eyes normally change within the first couple months. Well it has been 17 months and her eyes are still the same. Does anyone know what could have caused this? a lot of people joke around and say she's the milk mans baby, but that is not the case in this situation.

It's likely that both you and your partner carry caucasian genes. It would need to be both of you because I think that the blue eyed gene is recessive and it takes genes from both partners to produce that eye colour. I may be wrong about that though.

Doesnt matter what race you are.A lot of people think because of there race that have to have certain features but no thats not the case by no means there could be someone down either of your family lines that have or has had them same eyes. Just because you have brown and the boyfriend has brown dont mean nothing. My oldest son has deep blue eyes and i dont have them neither does his father. My youngest son has green eyes and i dont have them neither does his father. SO its not a bad thing.I also know a girl thats also afriacan american and she has blue eyes and none of her family has them shes the only one so nothing is wrong. Doesnt matter what other people think im sure the child is a pretty little girl so no worries.!
