Have you ever tried working for an organization for a cause? Please share your experiences here and how do you feel about it. I cant consider myself being in one situation but in school, we have a subject called NSTP and we try to go out for and outreach program in the community near the school. I like the activities we do and I hope I can be a part of something like that again. Please tell your stories here.

I used to volunteer in a non-government organization that caters to the needs of women who were abused (either they were beaten by partners or raped by family members). I volunteered into the shelter program. The program gave me a chance to interact with them, and I enjoyed listening to their life learning in the process.

That must have been a great experience .. and i bet you learnt a lot . Every chance to chat with a victim helps them on the way to being a survivor *

I had been helping bits and pieces everywhere before until I joined the Red Cross. The problem I had was that I could not find the sense of belonging in many of those organizations. They really just want someone to help out in 1 or 2 programs and I get to know nobody after the activities. Just don't have the sense that I am involved. But helping the Red Cross feel quite different because I am one of them to plan for programmes and put them into action. I understand the ideas and the target of the programmes we are on. And I treat the work as my own responsibilities instead of purely partitioning. Although I am still new to the group, I get to know a lot of new friends. I am happy to make use of my skills in the group and be surrounded by people who share the same believes as myself. Besides, I think my life is more meaningful with volunteer works.

Im a volunteer for Shopmobility . We get people out and about for shopping or lunch who would otherwise be housebound .. We are very lucky with young people from a local school.. As part of a social study assignment they come and help us out with pushing wheelchairs .. walking with vision impaired and spending time a with an Elder having a cup of tea and chatting while they wait for the transport home . Its so good for the older people to find that not all young people or out to do them harm and great for the young ones to see what the issues are for the Elders .. Sounds like you are doing some good work to . Well done . why dont you look for some voluntary work in the school breaks .. it will look good on your C.V. and give you good experience .. What does NSTP stand for ?
