Since the early 1990's I've had 2 careers primarily, Retail Sales and Teaching. I have worked in an upscale Department Store, Dollar Store, Grocery store, and now office Supplies store. I have also worked as a substitute teacher most of this time (pay is great but very unreliable). My problem is I see so many people and my memory for names SUCKS! Also I went too many years without getting new glasses because I couldn't afford them and hate going to the doctors. I can remember number sequences, directions, odd trivial things, but can't remember names and faces. Just last week a woman came up to me in the store I work in and we had a 10 minute conversation about our families, I honestly had no idea who she was and she never said her name, the only clue I had was a comment she made about when she worked with my husband 8 years ago, when I got home and told him about it, after a brief description he said "oh that's P____, her husband's M____, haven't seen them in a while." I find it embarrassing when I can't remember people I should, like one of my husband's ice fishing buddies, who came up to me when I was shopping with my daughter one day, we had a 10 minute conversation about how the fish were biting this summer, did my husband finish building his new shanty, where was he going to put it, etc. After he left I told my daughter I had no idea what his name was. She popped out with " That was D____, he has the green shanty with the house door.-She never went ice fishing last winter, she started laughing and tells me I'm the only person she knows who can have a whole conversation with someone and not know their name and have them not realize it. Have you ever done this? Do you remember peoples names?
