i have a son who is very crazy playing computer games that he usually prefers to play than to eat. he pays much attention to his games. he would rather have to spend his allowance to rent for a computer in many cafes here in our place. i don't know how to deal with him right now he's mind is circulating to the battles and many terrible things he can get while playing. i need advices to help my son realize what negative things he will then be having when he will continue doing such things..

If he plays a team game like DOTA or Counter Strike then buying a PC at home may not work, I play often times and playing against a computer is sooo boring and will need a human to play against, I think these days this is already what I call a lifestyle of the new generations, computer addiction comes along the way

the first thing is make him involve in other interesting activities like outdoor games such as basket ball, base ball..etc...to do this first oder him to reduce his time spend on video games...tell him wht u feel abt his activity...search for his inner talent like singing ..dancing or so and develop his talent..this will keep him busy....be little harh as its for his better future....spend time with him!!!gud luck!!i hope i helped u somehow!!

thank you for your time, i appreciate your point, but i already tried those , it seems someone has to exert more effort and want to bring him in for a counseling.

How old is your son, many times its just a passing phase , may e you can cut down his allowance and tll hi he can not get it if he wants to spend it on games. My son is just entering that phase and he is nine. I am still in control although by limiting his hours on computer and withdrawing it completely if he doesn't finish his assigned tasks. I do worry about when he enters his teens though.

hmmm... well, I'm the same as he is and I doubt any of the solutions listed would do anything, lol. The primary reason for me to be so addicted to games is to escape the real world, especially getting rid of my family and being able to relax by myself. If you see there are things happening at home that might make him act the way he does try to fix that, and perhaps get him to get involved more with friends and such so they'd take a part of that time he wastes on games, at least he'll be socializing
