What Do You Do?

I've reached a point in my life where I feel pretty much like I don't have a life. Have you ever felt that way? If so, what do you do to get a life? What makes you feel better about things?

hey s.mommy. i know that there are alot of generic answers to this question, cause i have asked and heard them all....get a hobby....start doing things...believe in yourself...that is all well and good but truth is that there is no easy answer. me and you know that we always have our kids. and i try to focus on doing whatever i can to make life better for them in the weeks months and years to come. as far as getting a life you and i both know that it is not that easy to just go out and do that especially when working, supporting and taking care of kids. the only thing i can suggest that might be possible is to find a babysitter once in a while and go out with friends....or alone who cares, you can make new friends....best i can do. hope it helps.

This time too shall pass. I too am facing a similar crisis - the organization that I have been writing for the most and over the longest period of time has been mistreating me, not carrying my stories, some of which have been obtained with a lot of effort from my side as well as a lot of other people, all because of the politics of the general manager, and his fear that I may one day prove to be better than him -he was kicked out of the editorial department a few years ago. This man used me to get rid of the same people who had kicked him out of that department by making it seem that these were the people who were responsible (they were partly, but not to the extent that was made out to me) - I have now been labeled a trouble maker for crying out my pain, for stating that my contributions have been neglected and this neglect could cause a lot of damage to the organization's credibility - I am now told that I'd probably stagnate - which is what I have been doing over the past five years in that organization in any case. This has resulted in a writers block in me and effected my work for other publications too. I have seen so many ups and downs in my life, and I am sure that these dark days too will pass and I will either move onto a better position in another organization or the owner will one day see light and things will change - because change is inevitable, and I am too much of an optimist to allow such things to tie me up for too long. Probably I will come up with some brilliant work, as I have done in the past after the downs?

The first thing you should do, singlemommy, is find something you are passionate about. Once you've settled on that you should devote a lot of time and effort in pursuit of it because it makes you happy.
