Jet airways lays off 1900 employees without prior intimation. thats verrrry Rude

Laying off employees due to bad market conditions has become a practise these days in many large companies. Those who followed the top story yesterday must be aware that 1900 employees from Jet airways,on the way to work got their Termination letters yesterday morning. Is this the way to lay off people isn't this rude? Can't they be atleast given a cahnce to serve thaie notice or if not why can't they be asked to resign? Improper management leads to Company's lossess. What do u guys think about this?
