Windows Vista - A love hate relationship when using the Vista. Personally, I prefer the XP. But it would take some getting used to to use the VISTA.
I am using vista on my mini computer as well. To tell you the truth, I do not really like this platform. So many things are not usable in this OS. Things like ipconfig/renew or release is impossible to be done on the vista. But I only use the laptop to surf the web. So it is still ok. What I like about the vista is the widget toolbar though. It is one heck of a neat feature to have on the PC. Other than that. I personally prefer to use the 2000 or the XP better. For the programs you cannot use on vista but possible in XP, try googling around the web to see if you can find a version that is compaitable with vista. If not, downgrade the darn OS to XP. It is so much more stable and, IMHO, friendly compated to vista!

I think some of the programs on vista are what's called 64 bit programs whereas on xp they tend to be 32 bit programs. Windows vista should be backward compatible with xp programs though. I think, you should go to the microsoft windows update site and it will scan your system for any updates that you need and this can cover software programs as well. Also, do a search on the program's website if any and try to get updates that way. Good luck. Andrew

I have just bought a laptop that came with Vista and I have found it hard to get used to as my desktop is XP which I have had it for years and I know it really well. I have had problems with Vista from changing icons to burning data. I didn't like it at first and considered installing Xp on my laptop. My technician advised me against it and I'm glad he did because as I am becoming more familiar with the new program it is getting easier. Try Vista Forums I have had many questions answered there.
