A few months ago, I went into depression due to some personal problems. I went to a psychiatrist and he gave me a prescription for anti-depressants. I took the medicine but it gave me side-effects like uncontrollable shaking. Should I still take it?

yes i believe it is better if you have faith in your doctor because if you don't, then you wouldn't really listen to his advice or prescription. i don't really trust my doctor that much. maybe il find another one and get a second opinion. tnx.

No you should be talking to your doctor, he may perscribe you something else. Depression is a tough thing, I'm going through it myself and somedays it feels like the medication is doing it's job and others it doesn't. I hope you find something to work for you..

I just heard earlier this evening that doctors are recommending fish oil supplements as a treatment for depression and may be better than any prescription medication out there.

You need to tell your doctor, that you are experiencing these side effect. Anti depressants help treat and manage depression.. But there really is no known cure for it..... I would tell your doctor about the shaking maybe the dose is to high or to low or that is not the right antidepressent for your genetic or chemical bodies make up.... I would still take it yes, talk to your doctor, if you want to go off to do so under your doctors supervision, Never regulate your own meds unless the doctor properly showed you how to... Antidepressants can give serious withdrawls. Contact your doc As soon as possible.... Anitdepressants work to manage it so you can function well in normal life, and have a better life if it is the right med. IF it is the wrong med it will make it worse... I also recommend having your health checked for blood sugar, or iron or mineral deficiencies, as they has been shown that depression can be a symptom of these, and if it is then correcting the deficiency is better than anti depressants. anti-depressants - anti-depressants
I don't recommend anti-depressants as a complete cure of depression,if there is some side-effect you are experiencing, you should infrom your psychiatrist about it and he will give you other medicines that has no the same sside-effects as previous one.
