I really don't mind either one alot, just decided to start up a topic. But for you what do you think it is? I think it's a fruit but should be a vegetable. What do you think?

Yes it really is a fruit. A vegetarian eats anything that grows rather than gets born or hatched, and all parts of plants are vegetable, including nuts, seeds, fruits, tubers, legumes, herbs, spices, sprouts, pulses and berries.

The term fruit has different meanings dependent on context, and the term is not synonymous in food preparation and biology. In botany, which is the scientific study of plants, fruits are the ripened ovaries of flowering plants. In many plant species, the fruit includes the ripened ovary and surrounding tissues. Fruits are the means by which flowering plants disseminate seeds, and the presence of seeds indicates that a structure is most likely a fruit... ...Many true fruits, in a botanical sense, are treated as vegetables in cooking and food preparation because they are not sweet.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fruit

I do also think it's a fruit but how can anybody really prove it? Scientists aren't always right.

Exactly, scientists say it's a fruit cause it has seeds, but then what about cucumbers, and all those other vegetables.

Tomato is a fruit because it has seeds and it was developed from the ovary which is the reproductive organ. Vegetables are the edible parts of the plant such as the leaves and tubers. You can get more detailed explainations at: http://www.askoxford.com/asktheexperts/faq/aboutother/tomato

Tomato is a fruit. Lol But we're using it as a vegetable, since the taste is not that of a fruit.

A tomato is actual a fruit, considered a berry but is often grown with in the vegetable garden. We generally eat tomatoes as a vegetable however.
