Many people do not know their legal rights when they have been arrested, defailed below is a brief outline of your basic. you have the right: to know what you've been arrested for, so ask! to speak to a solicitor, free of charge. you may be offered the duty solicitor to have someone informed of your arrest. to remain silent. there is no requirement to answer police questions. it is strongly adviseable for you to answer NO comment to all police questions and don't write or sign any statement. you dont have to give any personal information, but if you dont give a name and adress that the police can sheck and your date of birth it might delay your release. your pgotograph can be taken at any time without your consent. your fingerprints and DNA can be taken without your consent after you have been arrested. your fingerprints can also be taken before arrest, but only if the police suspect you've committed or attempted to commit an offence and they can't find out your name and address or they believe you've given a false name and address. if you refuse they can use reasonable force tell the police and your solicitor to give information about your detention and welfare to someone you know. know your legal rights.
