How long did it take you to learn how to swim?

I can't say that I am a good swimmer but at least I can swim a little and enjoy going to beaches and pools. I learned how to float after only ten minutes of submerging and emerging my head in water and keeping my breathe. I have a friend who taught me how to swim the easiest way. When I could keep my breathe in water I tried to float and lo! I learned how to swim in an instant. It's that simple. For as long as you aren't afraid to drink a little of the water in the swimming pool, you could easily learn the basic swimming lessons. Take it from me, I was already too old when I learned how to swim. With just a simple submerge and emerge, i did it and i was so happy to have tried it. Now, I could swim for hours without getting tired although I know only one stroke. I consider it something.

I was taught how to swim when i was really young, i can't really remember learning but i know i had lessons! I'm not a very fast swimmer but i am Ok at it, i know a couple of strokes and really enjoy swimming, it's probably my favourite form of exercise! I was looking through my sewing box the other day (it's full of random things!!) and i found all my old swimming badges that i got when i managed to swim different distances as a child!! xxx
