Have any of you been through eye surgery? My daughter has a crossed eye. We went to the doctors' yesterday and they said that her prescription had changed and that the doctor had recommended correction surgery to shorten the muscle that allows the eye to stray. I just called the specialist and got an appointment. He said based on what her regular doctor said, most likely a patch or exercises won't work. She will have to have that muscle clipped and shortened to maintain sight. I am shaken about this! I mean, I am just floored because my little one is about to have her face worked on and the fact that I just can't put a band aid on it. Have you had eye surgery? What does it consist of? Does anyone know what I am talking about?

I hope your daughter be better after the surgery, though I know nothing about the medical things. But still, God will bless you.

I am not familiar with that procedure specifically, but I can understand why it scares you. No one wants their child to be in pain, or at risk. Before you make a final decision talk to the specialist & ask lots of questions. What will happen if she doesn't have this surgery? How common is the surgery? How long will her recovery period be? Etc. If it helps comfort you, my grandmother has had 3 cornea transplants over the course of her life. Surgery techniques & tools have come a long way & are state of the art now.

Thank you so much for commenting. I am a little more at ease now that I've read this. I think I just have mommy jitters. I decided last night to explain what the doctor has told me. Can you believe that she didn't even care! She said "If it makes me see better, who cares mom?". I was floored! Here I am worrying about the procedure and how she was going to feel about it and she doesn't even care.....Hmmm...my baby is growing up! Thanks again!
