If after responding to an comment, are we allowed to say Thank You?

I have been responding to many comments that members have made to my discussions. I have said, "Thanks for responding" or "thanks for your comment"... Is this a violation of myLot??? When I read the FAQ's myLot stated that we were not supposed to say thank you after someone responded to an discussion that we have made.. Please clarify this??? I know that I have done this many times.. Is this wrong??? I thought that it was okay to say thank you for responding, but it looks like myLot does not accept this. So, what is the right thing here? Thanks for all your replies..

I have intrepreted that to mean that you should not just reply "Thank You" as a one-liner. In other words your response should be of substance and pertinent to the discussion, which is what makes it a discussion. Some people have a "blanket" thank you for each and every response. I think your thank you's are more in line with just being polite and a part of your reply.

Yes, I thought so too.. My thank you's are my way of appreciating the member for responding to my discussion.. But, I have seen an user just the other day, make an comment, and he said thank you for responding on every comment that he had.. He did not make an statement or anything, all he left to his post was, thank you for responding... I think that is what myLot is against.. So, with my discussions, I will just respond with an statement, and then say thank you... Is this still unacceptable..

i went over all the posts about saying thank you and all these made me think that they're all right. some of us cat help ourselves to express how thnkful we are top those people who responded to our posts especially when their posts help us in making our lives better. maybe we just need to rephrase that.

No it's useless to do it. It's in the guidelines. It's one of the dont's. So I would not risk it to go against the rules.

Me neither... Just saying thank you, just alone is a violation..

We should not only say Thank you.We should write our comments little brief.Like three to four sentences. In some of the comments i also say Thank You.

Yes, a brief comment would be fine.. And then a thank you at the end.. I think that is acceptable with myLot.

Yes, I have manners too.. I just don't want to violate any of myLot's guidelines.. I guess that I can arrange a way to say thank you, but not just after every comment that I post to an discussion.. Cheers!

According to the rules it isn't allowed. However I feel common courtesy is to either say thank you, or at least respond to their comment. Especially if they have taken time to type more than one or two short sentences or words. Once when I was fairly new here another member gave me a hard time about doing this. I basically said oh well, I'm going to do it anyway.

I think that if you have something else to say, or to add to the comment the other person made on your discussion, then it is ok to say thank you for your response, folowed by the rest, but if you are going to say the same thing to everyone that post there, then i is a bit repetitive and maybe i would think that you do it for bumping your treath or something like that.

Yes, when it is repetitive, that is when it becomes a problem with myLot.. I agree.

they don't really want you to just say thank you because you get credit for every post you make. also, if you respond 'thank you' after every single response and you have 50+ responses in there, it just might get messy. i would only think people in my responses if i also have something else to add to the general discussion or i'm going to address that person's response.

That doesn't bar us from thanking, rather we must be making some reply in response and give thanks lastly. Thanks for this analytical topic!

It is a violation to do thank yous. However, if you want to follow up on someone's comment on your discussion, that is actively encouraged. If you do that and then, throw in a thanks its okay.

I have had long conversations with people here on mylot, it is supposed to be a discussion group, and if you don't follow up on a discussion, then it isn't a discussion!

Well, I do it all the time. Maybe it isn't supposed to be done but I think it's rude not to say thank you or atleast comment on the responses. The other mylotters are helping you make money from their responses so, I look at it as a real job when you say thanks to a customer.

Yes, I do too. I often comment on many responses.. Even if I say thank you or not.. I really do appreciate others taking the time to respond to any of my discussions.. MyLot just wants us not to say thank you, just by itself on any discussion..

MyLot is looking for posts with content. When I say thank you, I add a couple more lines, or a funny story about whatever the topic was. I could easily see MyLot deleting posts that have only a couple of words in them.

Cream97, yes yes yes, all of the above are correct! Thank u sucks in MyLot, not that anything's wrong with it! I try n respond to everyone with a descriptive comment, elaborating on what their response was! That's cool in building our writing and thinking ability, I actually like it! Taripre$

Yes, you are right. It is better to add more words and to express yourself more in an discussion, rather than just responding with a thank you just alone..

Yes, they need to have more words to the conversation rather than just thank you.. It is not enough when it comes to explaining oneself. It is great to see you, taripres! I myself am just getting back here at myLot... I am in the process of moving so I will not be here as ofetn as I would like. But, I will make sure to check in as much as I can.. Happy Mylotting!

I've been experiencing that lately and it's starting to bother me! I feel like if I'm elaborating, why can't they? Do they hold actual conversations like that, every time someone answers their question, all they say is thank you? Be serious, what's the point? Taripre$

Hello, cream97! I believe it is wrong to comment only the"Thank you". If you are going to leave a comment, you should try to put something more elaborated instead of only thanking the user for spending ther time in your discussion. And I guess that this is there because there are people who think they will earn money by commenting, which is not true. Commenting will not grant you any money, so there is no need to thank everybody who responds. If you don't know what to say, do not thank the user. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

I have read the answers and that is my understanding of it too. That you can't just reply to all and say simply thank you. But if you have a comment to give on what they replied, you can do that and thank them in that comment.

Hi there cream. Mylot says that we shouldn't use comments in this matter as it does not add something of substance to the site and it does not improve it in any matter. The assure us that this kind of comments will not be rewarded and paid however they never posted this in the guidelines, but only on the advice of what not to do in a discussion.

I know that we can say thank you in a discussion, but we just can't say it by itself.. Like if you responded to my discussion, and then I saw your response, and I followed up with a comment of my own. My comment to you would be, thanks for responding! I know that this is not acceptable with myLot. But, surely, myLot does not delete our responses if we say thank you in a statement? Or, if they see that we have said thank you, will they not give us credit regardless if we say it or not?

I always tell my opinion regarding the comment. Why Thank You? I don't consider people are answering my comments only for money, I suppose they are also interested in the discussion I open. So, I just respond them with my honest opinion on the subject, if the comment deserves an answer. If I feel like the person is there only for his own interest or did not even read my comment, I usually don't answer - better than being rude ...

I agree too. I love answering discussions for no money either.. Once, I have feedback to submit to the discussion, I forget about any money. I just love responding! Yes, there are users that will not fully read your discussion..
